I am not a FORD fan but that is one nice F.A.S.T. launch picture.

The tire rules are posted on the FAST site, I believe he's within them with those tires. Funny side note, when I was in High School in Vacouver Washington (1981) I had a stock 318 auto gold Duster, there was an IDENTICAL looking red 1971 Mach1 Mustang accross the street, it was bone stock and owned by the mother of a guy I went to school with, it had a 351 and an automatic, he'd take it out all the time when his 69 Mach1 was broken (often). True story, we raced a few times and I beat that thing (by a couple fenders) with my Duster! It would do awesome burnouts but was a slug in a race.
*Jeff, what do you think about the Mustang suspension?

Starting with a disclaimer of being a visual artist myself and not to blatantly discredit my Mans Mustang approach, but he had the high tech fuel pumps and fuel cell in plain view once the trunk was opened. I was not feeling that because it kind of threw the wrench into the visual fantasy that these cars are stock by appearance. I still was shocked at his persistent knock on the Hemi's door, ET wise. I thought that over all, the cars would have to look stock as from the show room floor and I gather that most do, but this one was confusing me as to the looks. I could be foul on my thoughts but,I mean there are cars there that have all that stuff on board but there is a concerted effort to keep it covert. I guess some one can mention in defense that once the trunk lid is closed, it's STOCK appearing. I hung out with Tom, Harry and Dwayne Porter in the trailers and had a blast talking shop and politics. Great guys with a lot of knowledge.
I love these cars and the Family feel. At the end of the day, it is a magic Art to make those things hook and scoot the mail on those tire size and compound limitations. I especially give a salute to the very few STICK drivers in the field.

THANKS Everybody!!! Just got home from the long drive back, I had a great time and it was nice meeting everybody. I have to give most of the credit to Jeff at Modern Clyinder Head for the ET improvement. He pushed me into a piston design that paid-off very nice. Lots of guy asked me who does my machine work, Automotive Machine in Fraser, Mi. BIG "thumbs up" to Lane Carey in his Mustang, she`s FAST and she`s gonna be faster. That bad boy kept me on my toes and he`s just a great guy to boot... We pitted right next to each other and talked smack the whole time, it was great. Our Martin race is gonna be killer this year! Big thanks to Hemmings for the $1000 "record breaking" bounty check. Here`s my ET`s for weekend: 10.31 10.34 10.28 10.25 10.25 10.18 and mph`s were high 135`s and mid 136`s. First time out with new engine....

Absolutely amazing. All that horsepower disguised so well is one thing....but I can't imagine the level of finesse required to get something like that off the line.

Yea, I too am impressed that the Mustang made such an awesome run, but the slight visual clues I see in those pics made me wonder if he went though the same pains as some of the others went through in keeping everything looking stock appearing (see Dave's hidden fuel cell-lots of work!). Maybe the Mustang would have trouble passing a technical inspection if called on the carpet after making such a run? I think it should have been inspected if it wasn't. I'd hate to see the FAST cars begin to look like retired Stock Eliminator cars (fuel cells, etc.) with a fresh paint job and some stock wheels and tires to make them look "Stock" on the outside only.
