I know that MOOGS are top notch but are they really worth the cost over the others?
Yes, buy Moog. Shop around, there's better places than Auto zone to buy Moog.

Go to autozone and ask to see one of them and note the part numbers on the part and the actual part # of the item. Do some research on the web (google) on the numbers so you can find out who actually made the part as they are just rebranded by autozone. Could be a moog part in a duralast box.
For 87.00 a set they aren't going to be Moog. They are Chinese junk that you will be replacing in about 2 months.

I bought my moog stuff from rockauto.com I don't remember exactly what I paid for tie rod ends, but it's wasn't 200 bucks.
Just checked the rock...$209.34 wo tax or shipping. Thats for inners/outers and sleeves.
Probably better to just go with the best and not worry about it.

"When you buy Moog, or any other brand name part, you are also paying a premium price for a box that has their name on it." Kinda like Callahan brake pads.

See if you can find TRW.Its just as good as Moog and cheaper.I used some on my 65 and on my Durango and on a lot of cars at work. Some of the Dura Last is decent stuff also as we used it at work.Just check the quality before you buy.Rocky

all the same except 1 year trw , perfic circle, duralast,mcquay/norris moog all federal/mogal dana/spicer, one big happy family enjoy as this will not get better
thats why I've been scouting FeeBay for NOS Moog, TRW and Dana/Spicer stuff; though I did recently wind up buying more "recent stock" Dana/Spicer balljoints for the kid's RC and wow did they seem "loose" when I was playing with them before I installed them; but in the truck, all snugged up they feel OK (so far) Being the front axle is a Dana 44 these are supposed to be exactly wat was in there when the RC rolled off the line; but as I pressed them into the knuckles? I turned them over and saw "T R W" stamped into the joints. they are "Made in Canada" as opposed to Taiwan China etc so I'm hopin they can stand up to a 17 year old in his "1st truck". you know how kids treat vehicles!

Moog is better stuff. I've got over 10yrs parts experience. Jobber, retail, and dealership parts. Much of what's offered now is cheap junk. I'm in the middle of an e-body complete suspension restoration... The idler arm purchased from AZ by the owner 3 years ago (I installed with a steering box repair) now has 3/8" travel up and down... Less tha 1500 miles and he is a cruise night guy. Drives it lightly and never too far. The Moog (from Car Quest) is visually heavier and looks like the factory. However, you have to ask for real Moog. Everyone has the lower price line stuff to compete with the retailers like AZ. All of it is ceahp junk. Rubber is the same as the Indian made engine mounts that crack and tear in a year. For hard parts, I'll only use real Moog. For soft parts they get urethane except for the lower control arm bushings which are Moog. IIRC the LCA, tie rods, sleeves, upper and lower ball joints came to $322 with the tax on it. KYB shocks, a new boot for the pitman arm, and idler arm was another $147.
Well, art is art, isn't it? Still, on the other hand, water is water! And east is east and west is west and if you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does. Now, uh... Now you tell me what you know.

When I rebuilt my front suspension, I used all MOOG. It's not something I want to do again for a long time. Everything together was just over $400, but I feel it was money well spent. Jim
buy the best you'll never be dissappointed, the 2 areas where i don't mess around is steering and brakes,
