Will the yoke on the driveshaft from an auto transmission work in a manual transmission? Reason asking is because I have an auto drive shaft that I was trying to put in my 4 speed and it seems that the yoke is too small and it won't fit over the splines on the output shaft in the trans. I thought the yokes were the same.

If the yoke was on a 727, it should mate to your 4 speed.

904 auto's are smaller. One from a 727 auto will work

Yoke was from a 904 tranny. I have a 727 drive shaft out of a challenger; will this work? I know the challenger is 2 inches longer overall.

you can use the yoke but not the driveshaft . if the u joint sizes are the same swap the yoke .

there is a conversion joint to cross over the two different size joints and would allow the big yoke to fit the small shaft.
But, I think the 727 yoke is two inches longer than the 904 so you are back to no good.

the length of the yoke isn't an issue , the shaft for the chally is a different length than the cuda because the wheelbase is different.

unless of course the length difference is forward of the trans mount ???

I tried the challenger driveshaft and as expected it was about 2 inches longer. The yoke was correct though.

just think the time you wasted on that you could have swapped the yoke onto the other shaft ???

The other shaft that I have is too long also. I just had this shaft already and figured it was worth a try.

i just went back and looked at this again , it appears you have the driveshaft from a car with a 904 originally , i sort of missed that. the driveshaft for a 904 is longer than a 727 by more than the challenger 727 driveshaft is due to the wheelbase difference .

you need to get a measurement and get one of those shafts shortened and rebalnced , assuming they are worthy of the operation , ie: not a crusty mess ...
