Well if anyone read my post about the car...I figured I'd post our results from yesterdays trip to Raceway Park. Some may remember (if you were there) the Orange Cuda in trophy class smoking out the left lane LOL

I figured I'd drive the first couple of passes to shake down the car and make sure it was safe for my son.

First pass off the trailer, I was all whacked out. Everything felt outta place shifter felt funny (used to be a stick car) I was just outta sorts. Nice burn-out car hooks pretty good first second go for high gear forget to pull the lever ......no high gear :-( coast to a 13.64 66 mph

Guy in time slip shack says stop the car from smoking before we take it out again. Cool down and find a back valve cover bolt loose. Tighten figure we got it licked.

Second pass stage, footbrake the car to 4000 suspension feels really loaded up....gone on the last yellow skates a little bit out of the gate but settles down. Short shift second 5500 starts to skate around in second but settles back down again concentrate on hitting the lever and pulling high, shifts solid although short 5800. Pulls real hard in high gear still smoking but not as bad as first pass. Get to time shack and we're rewarded with a 10.72 124 1.56 60ft.

Get back to the trailer and after some checking find the breathers for the evac system are bottoming out on the internal baffles in the valve covers and the engine was pushing oil out of the dipstick tube on the header!

The engine builder was there evaluated the pass and says lose the P/S P/B some suspension tweaks and the car will have alot more in it with this combo.

My son was on cloud nine!! He'll get his turn the next trip to the track.

Car info 1973 Cuda 3650 lbs P/S P/B Previous Combo Flat-top 440 030 590 Flat tappet Team G intake out of the box Holly 950hp Hooker 1-7/8 headers 4sp 4:56 Dana M/T 10.5X28.5 The best run was a 11.90 112 mph

New Combo 440/512 13.5-1 Pro-Comp heads (untouched ports) Cam Motion Solid roller 727 lift 290@050 104/112 centerline (amazing how those cubic inches swallow up that big cam) (Idles better then the flat tappet!!) 1.6 rockers Same carb/intake/headers. Local built 727 Mancini internals Cheetah rmvb Dynamic 9.5 converter 411 gearing Same tires.

Sorry no video we were kinda busy. Randy p.s Promise we'll get video on the next trip to the track!
