There aren't any places close around that does powdercoating or anodizing so I think I will experiment with taking the gold off and polishing them to see what that looks like. I will work on the backside of one of them first and see how it comes out. I guess I should just use a normal aluminum wheel polish after I get the gold off??

IMO trying to go from satin to polished I would choose something a tad more agressive to start and a good variable speed sander/polisher. Wool pads work well on polishing aluminum as do the foam pads used to buff cars out.That is what we use is our old paint buffing pads.
