Im building a 360 for my 79 Macho, wanting to make a good torque motor since its going to be a 4x4. I was thinking of the KBR-190's which have the 1.2cc dome on the open chamber side of the cylinder. Block isn't decked and head is milled .010 1008 headgasket. Im going to port and polish a set of open chamber 360 heads and put in 2.02 1.60 valves. Get a cam ground for my application and run a dual plane intake and headers. Do you all think it will run no problem on 93 octane?
good luck with that....with the open chambers and no quench, I am not so sure....
although there have been others on the board with A bodies that have done 360's with KB107's at 0 deck, .039" head gaskets, and 63cc magnum heads (works out to ~10.6:1) that can run 89-92 octane with a comp XE268. the tight quench helps a lot in detonation resistance. the other piece of the puzzle is you intake closing point which will determine max cyl pressure. your combo might run on pump gas with say, a comp 292 cam, but not with an XE262....
