I seem to need a little more hook for slick track conditions, I'm thinking;

1. Clamp front of leaf springs

2. More front end travel

3. Solid spring eyes

4. Calvert shocks vs my CE 3-way (set 90/10)

5. All of the above?

Just would like to gather thoughts before going at it. Thanks, Mike

Yeah, it's got a smallblock.

90% of making one hook is in the front end........It needs to be really loose with loose shocks (I've had good luck with Cal-Trac shocks myself)......I like to use poly lower control arm bushings, heim joint strut rods, and heim joint upper control arms......and then shoot for 5" of travel from rest to all the way up........

After the front end is taken care of, I like to run a pretty stiff set of leaf springs....the faster the car, the stiffer.......and as you mentioned, clamps on the front halfs along with good adjustable rear shocks so you can control body seperation........I shoot to have just enough body seperation that you can just see the body move away from the wheel about an inch......If it seperates more than that with the shock on the tightest setting, it's time to start adding clamps onto the rear spring halves...... The worse the track is, the looser the shocks will need to be to get that 1" of seperation.......and, obviously, the better the track, the tighter the shocks will need to be.....

Thanks, I'm starting to get it figured out now. Originally, I had taken the rear clamps off of the SS springs and it hooked better then, but I've added a few HP/TQ over the winter. I'm thinking it's time to put the clamps back on the rear, make some for the front halves, and get some more front end travel for starters. Calvert shocks seem like a good idea.

I saw nylon front spring eye bushings for Mopar springs in the Speedway roundy pounder catalog the other day.

Would these work well with a street car with SS springs under the back?

You should have it set up for the bad tracks and just
need to adjust the shocks (both front and rear) for
the good tracks.... dought you should have to clamp
the rear segments

I run dvorak leaf springs, dan told me don't waste money on the rear shocks, I run stock truck shocks, spend the money up front, calvert front shocks 90/10. biggest improvement was lightening up the front end. thanks to Bob's ProFab took about 60lbs off. best 60ft 1.41 at 3400lbs

i had no problems hooking my old car with leafs anywhere, using ce 3 ways all around.

as was said, front end travel is important.

i would try cranking the torsion bars up in front if you havent already, that made a huge difference on mine, going 9.80's with 1.34 best 60 foot.

it seemed the more power you make, the easier this was to do.

start out with about 1/2 inch higher and see what happens. i would adjust mine to set evenly on each side with me in the car, using 2 guys.

Thanks... all good ideas..once again, Moparts your kung fu is strong! This all comes from an exceptionally bad day at the track(60 ft wise) It had been raining for days up until a couple days before the test and tune. This was at Gateway (St. Louis), and the track was prepped for the pros. It always seems slick after that and when it rains and moisture comes up through the track. It didn't help that I did a picture perfect burnout, only to have to wait for a smokin' pukin' Ford to clear the track.

Nonetheless, I've been thinking of working on 60' for a while. Last time around, I just shortened the collectors, moving torque away from bottom end. Really don't want to take the easy out again.
