if your chasing a time slip i guess this is the right attitude, but if you went RACING and your not hurting parts id still be racing. youve all ready spent the money for the tow and entry fees.

I hear ya but, he didn`t say he was entering a race but he DID say what he thaught it SHOULD run and is WAY off. Either way, good luck Bill and I wish you the best. Oh, I forgot..........not hooking, inconsistent and spinning a stock block well into the high 7000 rpm`s.....Ya, sure sounds like fun to me.

I would raise the tires to about 10 lbs. and try turning down the 2-step around 3500. The torqueee BB doesn't need alot of launch RPM (especially on alcohol) and it seems to be easier on equipment. I don't know if you need new tires or if you can sqeeze taller tires on but Hoosier makes 12 x 32 that replaces the 13 x 31 pretty nicely. Dropped my finish line a couple hundred Rrr's. I bet the right converter will pick it up .3-.5. Call ATI and get the MRT Treemaster - I know you bracket race alot - the converter will pay for itself by the end of the year.

Your switch sound very similiar to when I went from 383 to my 451 a few years ago. I tried to save money after putting the engine in by leaving the 8 3/4 and old converter. My car picked up .5 when I got rid of the old TCI converter. And I went thru 3 8 3/4's before installing the Dana.

Good Luck!

Dont be too discouraged by the results so far, Bill. In the final analysis, you gained about 100 HP over what you had before..that you know..so your ET will reflect that actual gain. But with the alky, i bet you will have to adjust your combo for the increased torque and power, like has been mentioned.

Glad you got it out Bill. Now you have some data to get your converter done and start tuning from there.

Had the same thing last year when we put in the 572. First pass @ around 10.50. Went back and set the timing back from 52 (distributor slipped). Went some kind of high nine.

Remembered the throttle stop was set at half throttle. Next pass went 8.99.

Maybe you got some little gremlin like that.

Dom, Always somrthing to practice so long as your not hurting parts. Got to get my reaction times back for one.

We put a 3200 pill in the luanch and the 60's improved a little.

We also put the shift rpm tp 6200 and noticed the shift light not going out after the 1-2 shift.

All 3 good passes were consistant but then I tried to squeez out just one more and the car lost power as the battery went away. After verifying I wasn't laying a traill I coasted it off the track and waited for a tow

The three "good" passes I had it went a 10.666, a 10.662, and a 10.704.

Might have figured out why the shift light is staying on as I tested the stall by pulling the chip and matting it on the T brake and it went to 6000 rpm

Also got Taylor to stay in the throttle today and WOW what a day she had

First pass I was really jumping for joy when I saw a 7.55 on the board.

Then when I started looking a the time slip it dawns on me "no way she went a .984 60 foot" Yes you read that right

Back up to the lanes and made 2 more. Went a 8.479@75.79 mph and then a 8.34@77.61mph. 60 foot times were 1.890 and 1.847.

Now I get to figure out how to slow it down to run the 8.90 index

Would have liked to get more hits but getting all 3 cars teched, the chassis cert on mine, and chassung a no start on the 72 it just ate up to much of my time. The down side of running multiple cars but so be it.

Tracked the no start to a bad relay and ripped one I don't use out of my car and got it right.

Dad had a good daay to but I'm hoping he'll chime in and post his results.

All in all, I'ld call it a good productive weekend all around.

No hurry Mike

I did learn that I need to learn how to prime it with gas before trying to start it in the cold weather.

Had to have a buddy come over and get it going this morning

Four passes in the 72;

60 1.953
1/8 8.266
1/4 12.814 @107.95

60 1.954
1/8 8.272
1/4 12.889 @106.92

60 1.939
1/8 8.283
1/4 12.881 @ 106.86

60 1.930
1/8 8.219
1/4 12.764 @108.08

Last pass was a new personal best. Also made that last pass against Bill so I could be there to tow the dead car back to the pits. We've now raced each other twice. Both times I got a great view of the back of that blue Charger!

OK, before you start talking about the killer consistent car you should know that the lights are still so bad that I'm in no danger of going rounds for a while. We'll be back at Norwalk on Friday for the test and tune. Larry needs some practice on the tree!!!

Just average you R/T into the amount you keep in the bag for the other end

Bill good to see everything stayed together for the first outing and hope you had fun!

Definately need a vert set up for your combo. I'm real happy with my Coan 8". Puts me @ a 5,000 flash on the foot brake with 1.38's - 1.40's 60'.
Don't be to pick up .5 in ET with a vert all by itself. I picked up .3 over my Dynamic 8" that was set up for my combo

You didn't mention if the motor "felt" stronger than before, sans your vert issues.

Congrats on the junior also

Hell yeah it felt stronger.

I think if they got the timing of the shot just right and all the cards fell into place and you look real hard you might have been able to see a hint of light under the tire before

It was never anything like this though

On the first pass I felt the tire come down as I landed it back on the track
