Yea with that gear and tire you dont need a calculator to figure the converter slip is way out in left field...

Why spend the $$$ on a new mill then use a borrowed converter?

Get a good converter in that thing!

I'm just sick of pulling the trans

I used it becuase it was what we had. Took a gamble and lost. Nothing ventured nothing gained right. Could have just as easily gone our way but oh well.

If nothing else we'll have that much more data to get the right conv built for it.

never a good way
i hope you dont either
just pull them both somethig is not what it should bee
way to slow way to many rpms
no et and no 60 ft
im thinking
youre car would be
141 60
619-622 1/8
9.95-10.10 1/4 @130 mph
go thru traps @7100 rpms??

My rough caveman like calculations put that converter at around 22% slip, but that isn't taking into account tire growth. So I figure 20% is a safe estimate. Either way, you need a new converter.

With that 1st short time, it should have et'd in the 10.20's IMO your probably right about the converter, I would look at a 9" PTC to fit your combo

My old conv was a TCI 9" that we were going to have refreshed. Now thinking of just having it rebuilt and tweaked for this set up.

I was turing 120 when made that 10.96 pass.

Tires are 31's and gears are 4:56's.

Half a second for 5 mph seems a little off to me?

Not really.......I`ve picked up .5 and .5 before but agree the RIGHT vert should make a world of difference and I can`t wait to see the real potential that thing has. Good luck and sell what you have to to get one.

I went from 105 to 115 in the 1000 foot just by changing the converter in my old 65 Plymouth.I say not bad for your first time out bill. mine is still sitting on the engine stand wating on me to save up some money for the push rods. best of luck to you. Mopar65

Didn't feel any different at all with the lower pressure. Not a bad thought on raising it up if the track will hold it. Not much heat or stick out there today and I'm sure tomorrow wont be any different.

Anyway, I'm beat and have to get some sleep if I'm gonna do this all over again in the morning.

I may not get to post during the day but I will try. Either way I'll try get back on earlier than I did tonight.

Good night folks

Bill,
What are the 1/8th mile times & mph on those passes? I'm guessing the converter ain't right for that combo. I run a 727, 4.56 gear with 29.5" tires and I'm nowhere near 7700rpms in the lights on a 1/4 mile. My converter is a Turbo Action "J"

Good luck today Bill.

If you have more power then it seems you would need less gear. I would want to try some 4.30s in it and see. Convertor might like that...

bill: just as in real estate it's location, location, location, for us it's converter, converter, converter! long story short, had a 318 in my car yrs ago went 8.30 in the 1/8, built my first 340 and with the same converter it went 8.00, really disappointed. i chased my tail all summer trying different carbs, different this and that, nothing changed much. i finally bit the bullet, called 3 good converter companies and got a consensus on what i should have, bought 1 and BINGO i picked up .5 in the 1/8 mile and another .5 after tuning the combo! remember those are 1/8 mile increases! buy the right 1 the first time and go have FUN!!!
