would like to get together a list of composition gaskets with their characteristics and if possible have it archived. for the most part all the different MLS and copper offerings are pretty well identified through the vendors but the composition stuff seems a little more mysterious. feel free to add or correct information, a lot of info is from summit. i "thought" the mopar performance gaskets used to be the 1009 and the detroit but looking at the construction they have no wire and the 1009 does. prices posted are summit list without possible discounts.
fel pro....
8519PT1-basic stock permatorque, no wire, eyebrows, iirc around .041-.044 compressed. good sized bore, will fit bores with large chamfers, good gasket for mild builds. $18 each
17059- this is the marine head gasket, 4.5 bore, no wire, .039 compressed, 10.3cc (stainless construction?) $49 each
1009-race gasket with wire, .039 compressed, 4.41 bore, 9.9cc, often will not work on >4.375 bore. $42 each
1039-race gasket with wire, .051 compressed, 4.59 bore, 13.7cc, clear pretty much any bore or chamber. believe will fit wedge or hemi. $62 each
1095-no wire, steel core laminate, pro stock for the TS head, .051 compressed, 4.62 bore, 15cc $80 each
1105-race gasket with wire, .051 compressed, 4.59 bore, 13.7cc wedge only. $74 each.
mopar performance....
P4349559- race gasket no wire, .040 compressed 4.38 bore, 9.8cc. i thought this was the 1009 but it isn't as it has no wire. $60 pair
P4529455- race, no wire, eyebrows, .038 compressed, 4.42 bore, 9.55cc. $74 pair
victor reinz 3464SG (nitroseal)-performance, .045 compressed, 4.43 bore, 11.1cc. they also have MLS offerings in their performance catalog probably made by another manufacture
victor reinz 3464VC, listed as VR2000 construction. good luck finding any more about this one
detroit gasket(corteco?)-55655HG race, no wire, eyebrows, .038 compressed, 4.42 bore, 9.55cc same as P4529455
ROL HG31130HT- race, eyebrows?, .045 compressed, 4.505 bore, 11.8cc
edelbrock 7325-.038 compressed, 4.45 bore, 9.969cc. $62pair

victor reinz graphite coated?
detroit gasket-iirc similar to the fel pro 1009 in dimensions. part number was HT something and the gasket was orange. i believe it was also sold by mopar performance.
That is the MP gasket I used on my 451 and 471 CID motors in the past (2002-2004) at ~12 CR). I thought it was the Detroit gasket. On a used one, I measured the gasket dia is about 4.40", plus the added "eyebrows" for the valve areas.

This is the old package. I have no idea if Mopar Performance is still using the same gasket with this part number.
EDIT: And this is what the MP catalog in 2000 said:
P4529455: B/RB - Up to 4.380" bore

Great thread, I'd like to add that I checked out the Edelbrock 7325 the other day and it looks just like the orange gasket 440Jim posted but it's white. It has the same little dots all over it. It is a steel core laminate which is suppose to handle decent compression, 12 to 1 or a little higher. Supposedly made by ROL. .038 thick, 4.450 bore, $62 a pair. Here they are................

I would gain a half a point compression going with something like that Edelbrock 7325 but I dont know how it would hold up to 13:1 compression..
Any other options?
I run Cometic MLS head gaskets in my 13.5 CR motor. Costly, but I have reused them 3 times during engine teardowns, so they paid for themselves compared to throw aways.

The 7325 is a stell core laminate, which is suppose to be better than a regular composition gasket. I think you'd be ok honestly. The guy at Summit told me they've been using the steel core laminate gaskets on everything, even turbo cars.
