PAW has some pretty good prices on stoker kits. I think they even have a complete short block available for around $3200. They have a 500 long block for $4200.

I have a 496" stroker kit from Muscle Motors, and I am very happy with it so far. Just got it put together. I believe the cost was about $2,200 for the crank, rods, and pistons, with rings and bearings. Great kit you will be very happy.

cheap may haunt you. i would be more worried about quality then a few hundred dollars difference which you will give to your machinist anyways to fix the problems

440SOURCE is pretty easy on the pocket book, as far as stroker motor kits go. They have a couple different 383 kits available as well as other parts like heads, gasket sets, water pumps, valve covers, pulleys, etc etc etc. They are prety easy to deal with as well. Check out their website. They are also a site sponsor I believe.

There is a couple machine shops also doing stroker motor kits as well that arent too bad on the wallet. Far cry from just a couple years ago when it was hard to get performance parts for our stuff.

Dan, you give me the shudders when you say stuff like that. C-body guys, of all people, know that there's no such thing as best and cheap. I can now give up all hope that I'll ever see a 100 pt. #1 Fury 6-pak...

Why not put a 440 crank in it..
Takes some machining for the block/crank clearance
Keeps the outside block looking stock..
Put in the rite cam, heads, intake/carb and exhaust and will easily put out 500HP..

Just my $0.01..

Hey John, did you get another set and also not using them? 6 years ago I bought a set from you, they are still working perfectly in my 383 upgraded to 449

You won't regret stroking your 383, I did it and with using a 3.91 stroke crank i made it a 449, runs perfect with a Comp XE284 and made 550hp on the dyno last year

I have the same pistons as John posts and used a 440 crank that is offset grinded to 3.91 stroke and B-block mains, and used chevy BB Scat rods, i run this combo 5 years (about 15.000 miles) now and no problems

I have Edelbrock 84cc heads and my calculated CR is 10.5 , cranking compression is around 180PSI with the XE284 cam, the stealth heads are basicly the same so that won't be a problem
