Some varasol and a scrubber will clean it up nicely.

yeah that "easy off" oven cleaner will bleach it like bones out in the desert , but it will be clean

If its not dirty from oil or gas, an aluminum acid wash would be the easiest and best bet. Something like alumiprep or "steam iron cleaner".

Unfortunately care aluminum is just begging to oxidize and get dirty. Your best bet is to paint it with something like alumiblast afterwards so it seals the pores, stops oxidation and will clean up easily.

Just an overpriced, watered-down "alumiprep" acid solution. But, it's probably easier to find than the good stuff - Walmart, Target, probably even in the grocery stores !!

I get mine Glass Bead blasted then paint it with "aluminum" colored engine paint (not the mating surfaces mind you). No one the wiser
