Just been wondering a comparison on what you USA guys pay for your entrie fees into big race meets?
We have the Winternationals coming up in June at www.willowbank-raceway.com.au & they are charging us $430 just for entry, we have to bring our own water, power and shelter for the 3 1/2 days of the event.
its a biggie with near 600 entrys each year from all over Aust & from New Zealand too so its atmosphere is unreal but the price is getting out of hand. they tell us it's the biggist race meet outside of north America with over 35,000 spectators over the long weekend.
Iv been stashing money for a few months to enter this but with the cost of everything I might have to flag it, my sponcer was keen right up to when we had a meeting last night we dicussed the price of entry alone so now they have backed out, don't blame them one bit because they have two cars of there own to enter & a third is just crazy

the entry fee includes me & two crew for the weekend & thats all.

what kind of payout is there? round money? imho it really depends on what you have the possibility of getting back.

for my class its only $700 a win, $375 runner up & $250 to make a semi. at last years winter there was somthing like 150 entrys in my class alone.the next class up had over 200 entrys, Those two classes could make a race meeting on there own

A NHRA National meet here is up to $330.00 for 2010 and I thought that was alot

yep! thats right, but that prize money is only for my class, the faster classes get better prize money but of course you car costs more to build, run & maintaine. And you have never meet such grumpy track staff, If your not a nitro fueler or top slamma racer your just cattle hearded up.

last year they charged $350 entry & got 600 entrys. no one can explain the jump in price but I thorught perhaps with the lodgistics involved of a winternats that Willowbank raceway was trying to contain the size of the meeting by pushing up the entry fee

If you won in your class I'd bet you'd just break even, if you are lucky, considering all your other expenses. Less than double the entry fee for winning the class? I'd tell 'em to get stuffed...

I'd be going as a spectator....that is if that isn't $200.00 or something outrageous like the entry fee.

There is a race in my area here called the "No Box Nationals".They charge $300.00 to run all three days, car and driver. The prize money is $5,000.00 per day.I sure wouldn't pay the amount you are talking about without a similar payout.
