Does anyone know where you can buy some deep sockets with the nylon inserts in them to assemble your painted bolts ? i have checked at Sears and looked on ebay. Thanks Ronnie

if you can't find them try using a dryer sheet between the bolt and the socket. Even those nylon ones will chip the paint I'm afraid.

You can also use peices of those blue scott shop paper towels.

I got a set from Matco, they did not work that well, you cannot tighten much at all as the socket insert gets chewed up.

Paint after final assembly. I am a body guy and there is no way to completely keep bolts from chipping. As many times as you have to go back and forth to achieve alignment, touch up is inevitable. If you used 2 stage paint, buy a small amount of single stage for the touch up. Airbrush to be perfect, model brush or Q-tip to be satisfactory.

Only use the six sided sockets and put some electrical tape over the nut or bolt and then do it up.

A related thought:

Reportedly pieces of milk jug can be cut into good protective washers to use during body panel alignment -- then remove it for final bolt installation.

Parts I seek: driver doorpanel, 65 Sport Fury, prefer black, needs to be 7-8 on 10 scale, might buy set 16" x 6" Dodge truck wheel(s), from early 70s?, takes 9" dogdish - need for a research job so cheaper is better. 69-73 C-body caliper brackets and/or splashields Send a PM.
