66 383.rebuilt 15 years ago.after the first year I installed 391 gears.problem started.
after I'm on the e-way for a mile or so.About 3000 rpm's ,I lose oil pressure and the pump locks-up, breaks the shaft.1 time a fluke, second time NOT,
1st time stock pan,pick-up high pressure melling pump,windage tray valvoline 20 w 50 oil
2 time.stock pan/pick-up with stock melling pump.windage tray.valvoline 20 w 50 oil
now I have a 7 quart pan with matching pick-up windage tray.mobile 1 15 w 40 oil.I also changed cam and lifters.Oil does get foamey
I avoid the e-way.when I do go on,the oil pressure guage flucuates like it has in the past when thing broke,so I slow down or go a different route.still runs fine,no noises, oil pressure is a steady 40 psi cruising.
I didn't know about any block marks back when I had it apart.Could this be a sign of a block that requires oversize lifters.
Motor has been together-running for 15 years. any thoughts???with the 3.23 gears I did not have this problem.

A diamond on the ID pad indicates oversize lifters.
