Will the EGR provisions on an Edelbrock model 1400 reduce performance compared with a model 1405 or 1406? Thanks

The EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) capabilities would in the intake not the carb where the egr (vac valve) device can bolt to the side of the intake w 2 bolts to recirculate a certain amt of ex gas. It helps emissions (NOX iirc) but any dilution of the air/fuel mixture w ex gas will cost you power

The intake I'll be using won't have provisions for EGR I was planning on just bypassing all of it. Can anyone tell me if the springs and metering rods are interchangeable between the three carbs? (1400, 1405, and 1406) I know the 1400 is setup to be a 50 state legal carb and Edelbrock doesn't directly offer a calibration kit for it but was wondering if another Eddy 600 calibration kit would work with it. Thanks.

The springs will work between the carbs As for the rod i know the 1406 and 1405 use different rods in the calibration kit. I would check to see what jets are used in each carb on-line at eddy's site to see if it is the same for the 1406 and 1405. Heck i am they are all the same cfm you could just order the stock jets from a 1406 "fuel mileage carb"tuned or 1405 "performance" tuned swap them in and then order the calibration kit for whichever carb you choosed to copy off.

I researched the information on Edelbrocks website regarding the 1400, 1405, and 1406 carbs. All performer series jets, metering rods, and springs are interchangeable. I looked at the differences between the 1405 and 1406 calibration kits and it appears that the 1405 just includes a bigger assortment of jets, rods, and springs than the 1406. So I should be able to tune the 1400 with the 1405 kit. It looks like the only real difference between the 1400 and 1405/1406 is that the 1400 has a canister vapor vent for EGR. I think the 24 bucks I paid for the carb might have been worth it. Thanks for all the help.
