340727dart OP master Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 8,144 Arkansas	Today, I accidentally found out I can start my '71 Dart without a key. The switch turns without a key in it and I can start the car. Does that mean the ignition switch is bad, or is it the locking mechanism? Your life is not my fault. My life is none of your business. Speech is free only if you agree with those in control.

stumpy I Win Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 32,911 Grand Prairie,Texas	Try shooting some WD40 or brake clean into the lock. Some times the cylinder gets dirty and the tumblers stick. In your case they maybe stick up making the lock unlocked all the time. Or the original owner was a cheap dude who removed the tumblers rather than replacing or rekeying the cylinder.
