How much does it usually cost to have a set of head flow tested? I want to have a set of heads tested, but have no idea what a fair price is.

Usually $40-50.00 a port. Some guys will discount a bit if flowing all the ports.

some guys will do it for a little less if they already have checking springs on them. it saves them a few minutes from disassembling, etc.

Did not realize it could run up to $800 for a set of heads. I may have to rethink that idea.

FWIW, most people don't have EVERY port tested, only one cylinder per head to check for some consistency.

My bad on choice of words..I meant per cylinder, not per PORT. I automatically know its a pair of ports, but didnt type that. Sorry for the shock...lol.

I made that mistake the first time I bought a set of ported heads! I asked the shop to flow each port and to provide me with a flow sheet with 8 lines of data. They ignored my request and gave me a flow sheet for one port just like they gave everyone else. I was mad at the time but years later when I started to flow heads on my own bench I figured out how much time it takes.

OK. That seems more reasonable then.
