Fred, I don't find my way on here as much anymore....do you own the Missle now or on board helping out with restoration? Seem to recall there was some challanges getting the restoration going a year or two ago.
no the car is still owned by the party from Canada along with a friend of his. Initially I was contaced to supply some parts which has developed in me being much more involved.
So glad the car was pulled from it's resting spot. Great to see progress as its simply too important a car.

Are all the Missile/Carlton cars accounted for?
From what I have been told there are some "backup" cars out there as well, acid dipped & set up very close to the "race" cars. They were used for testing etc & were all but ready to go if the race car got wrecked during the season.
There is no way I could ever afford to own one of the race cars but a backup car would be a cool thing to own and I do have a verified Carlton Hemi to put in it.

wow 9.71 et 143mph and a 1.43 60 ft that 60 ft is for about a 10.90 car
I guarantee you that 10.90 car, if you could transport it back in time, would NOT 60 ft. in 1.43 seconds given the tire technology of the day, lack of concrete starting line with loads of VHT (or similar traction compound) sprayed all over it as is standard practice today. No way. That 1.43 60 ft. time was damn good for its time.

Guess my 10.40 car is a big old turd. Best pass ever 10.27 with 1.43 60' I would say a 1.43 back then was pretty darn good.

I wonder which popular rock group was wearing their belts buckled to one side? I know I had me some of those Beatle boots.
Just the ones who didn't want to scratch the back of their guitars. I am pretty sure that is where the practice came from , but I had a neighbor who also incorporated it into his lawn care routine. Man , I love threads like this. I did have the model and saw a lot of the magazines when they came out. American history at its finest.
