Firstly.
Instead of being hostile to my daughter and being nice you could have asked her questions, but no, some of you had to be rude.
Secondly pictures of the car have been used without permission and we said nothing.
Third, YOU dont' know anything about our lives so who are you to judge?

Yeah, it's being restored...that car cost us, my daughter and I, over 15 years of our lives. Now, he won't even pay child support for her because his money goes to restore the car... I found Dick so we could get the car restored, begged him to restore it for over 10 years even got one of his friends to front some $$ for the restoration and paid out of my pocket Thousand's of dollars to buy toys, pictures, posters etc on that car and I walked away with nothing!

Happy NOW?

It appears that some, few, people got off on the wrong foot in this thread. First it is always good when one of the most historic drag race cars in the history of drag racing is located. A lot of them are in pretty bad shape when they are located. Many are left to just retire into history. Don Carlton and the Missle cars were a great part of Drag Racing History here in North Carolina.

Photographs of the Motown Missle are available in many locations both on and off the internet. I have several different photos from all of the tracks in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. Many people on this thread were interested in the fact that the car was found and the history involved with it. You owning the car and what it has gone trough, is part of the history of this car. These cars continue to make history for many years after the last time the original owner and driver drove it down the track. At the East Coast Drag Times Reunion in Henderson, NC every year there is a car or two there that has been found and the Owner wants to talk to old racer who can shed some light on the history of a car. It would be good if you could come on the MOPARTS site, and many other sites, and search all of the theads that have ever been posted and read the stories that are on these sites that make up the history of the famous Missle cars. There are posts here from the people who were responsible for the design, building and racing of the Missle cars.

lemme get this right. some pepole are interested in the car and would like to see it back in its original condition. your daughter comes on here with an attitude, then you show up talking about a bum marriage and its our fault? this may have turned out differently if your daughters hostility was curbed in her first post .

Why not try a more civil reply?

How is my reply uncivil? I meant no disrespect. The only point I was making is that there's still hope for the car being you got it back and you keep replying in regards to my comment.

Seriously guys I am trying here as I tried for years to get that car to restoration. I know Dick Oldfield personally so as far as History is concerned I think I know a lot, plus he is going to the restoration place.. ( Paul's in Mississippi)...have met and gone to all the shows over the years and it was ME talking to the guys..Not my ex. He is incapable of having an intelligent convo with anyone..many of you have met him, you just dont know it cause he doesn't tell anyone about the car. He sent me over..
Why is he not on here? Well he wants to keep it all to himself. He won't be selling it. He is a hoarder he can't sell it.
He plans to take it to shows, museums, sell T-shirts etc

as far as the name is concerned, yes, it was bought by someone else, Mike Fons I think. But they are working on it.

I told you about what my daughter and I went through in regards to the divorce so you would see where she is coming from. She is a very hurt girl who's father won't even be a father to her. Not to mention she is 16 for crying out loud and all 16 year old girls are emotional.

See it from her and my perspective. This is a car we gave our heart and souls for and now we dont' even get to enjoy the restoration...that hurt more than leaving him.
We too are attached to it guys.
The photos that she refers to are the ones that Stewart posted of it in the back yard. They were not taken by him and we did not give permission for them to be posted.

The restoration is being video taped by time laps (sp) photography..they hope to make a documentary on it.

Yes it's is and will be a great car again.

So, the ex-husband has ownership/possession of the car, we (the people of moparts) are talking about how great of a race car it was, and how sad it is if the car is still sitting outside, then we get attacked with these Jerry Springer type responses.....

No one is attacking you guys so chill out

Divorce is very hard on children and leaves a lifelong scar. I'm very sorry this happened to you and your daughter. Hopefully, seeing the Missile eventually restored will bring you some feelings of satisfaction as you know it would have never happened without your efforts and sacrifice.

HMMMM Jerry 'Springer huh..

So what about you guys, probably older men saying:

"wow didn't take her long to get them panties in a wad just when we were enjoying a little history"

Get it out of the elements, sell it to someone that has the means to preserve/restore it, or shut up. Get it?

"Yea...that was a GREAT idea. Since it was robbed of the "good" parts we should take it out of storage and put it outside in the elements where it will be safe in the yard. How is that working out for you guys, car looks GREAT by the way..... "

Like I said judging others..

You seem to be ignoring the fact that your daughters first response to this thread was what started the hostility. Click her name and look at her profile page , there is a question she had to answer to join this board , her response ... STUPID PEOPLE ...

sorry but your info is not even close on the above statement. Mike Fons made a deal to buy the name but never paid for it as agreed or ever had it trademarked. The trademark is currently owned by Arne Klan who owns the Missile Challenger. He has voiced to others his dissatisfaction of them using the name and sent legal notice regarding them to cease it's unauthorized use.

Dick Oldfield and I took them. He wanted them for "personal use".

So it is only logical to assume that he sent them to you.

@Hemi Fred..I have spoken to you. I didn't claim to know exactly what was going on with the name of the car..I said "I think"...

But as I do have a legal background it is very difficult to enforce the name thing on historical vehicles like this.

Arne is still pissed that he doesn't have the last one ( this one) so I suspect he will do what he can to stop it...

And I thought women were obsessed about their shoes...you guys really top it in regards to cars!

And I don't mean that in a nasty way!!
