I have an inductive Sears timing light from the '70s that works fine. Is there much advantage to buying one of the new styles?

Dialbacks are nice for adjusting timing advance....but if it works, why buy another one?

The old sears lights were some of the best. I use mine more than my new dial back light. Save your money.

That's pretty much what I was thinking, just wondering if the dial back feature was worth the bucks. I'll keep 'old trusty'

& I mean the OLD sears lights and dialbacks are based on a time delay and are slightly inaccurate as timing marks are moving faster on different diameter dampeners (& I dont think they are all calibrated to a 7&1/4" dia dampener) which translates to ~1 deg error on my good dialback but with that being said they are SO MUCH FUN to play with!, I am a believer in checking true TDC w the stop. The foundation must be correct.
