Hey guys, quick question for you. Would an original Chrysler starter for '69 be dated in days or weeks? The date code I am looking at is 0299 and I am not sure if that is the 29th day OR 29th week of '69. Buddies of mine have differing opinions as well. Anyone know for sure? Thanks!

There would only be three digits, not four. It is stamped on the barrel under the word CHRYSLER along with a seven digit part number. Three digits is indicative of the first two being the week of the year, and the last one being the year. Post a picture is you can.

Sorry, didn't notice the picture. It is the 29th week of 1969 which would be for a 1970 model year car. Part number is 2875 560. Does that date match your car?

Sorry about that. You are correct that it is only 3 digits of 299. I've also read that the pinwheel on the side of the housing indicates the date as well. The year is stamped in the center of the circle and the month is indicated by the number of spokes that have dots in the middle of them?

Yup, that is correct. Does the case part of your starter have a date that matches the July, 1969 date on the barrel? Post a picture if you can.

Here's the pinwheel on the housing. It looks as though it was stamped upside down b/c the part number is defintley for '69-70 and not a 1966.

Usually there is a two digit number in the center of the pinwheel, it appears it is missing the "9".

............ but how is the "pinwheel" counted? What is the correct barrel number and nose casting number for our '60s & '70s musclecars?

Here are pics from a starter I have laying around.
nose casting #3755259 - vendor #05305 - pinwheel "sometime" in '74
