No, it lost 23 HP going to the TTI's from the Stepped 1 7/8's
How much in the step? is that a 1 5/8 to 1 7/8 step headers? that sure is alotta HP loss

I called TTI this morning to pick their brain about W5 headers with a 3.5" collector and was flatly told they are not making one- it was solely a rumor...I'll be pissed if I buy a set with the standard 3" collector and they come out with a 3.5 shortly after. That would be my luck though....
yeah me too. Wait until you try to put them in.
"Just lift the engine 1-1 1/2 inches" Yeah right. If you can put them in before the engine goes in do it. Otherwise you will have to remove the steering column etc. I tried everything getting mine in and the only way was to remove the column due to the #3 or #5 tube that swings way out. Needless to say I did some serious scratching of my ceramic coating trying to get them in.
i think the instructions tell you to tilt the engine over, not just lift it, i had the same kind of problem with my TTI step headers before i read the instructions again and noticed they said tilt it over not lift.. may not be the case with the bigger ones but you may want to check that line again

Installing should be ok for me as they will be installed on the engine and slipped in all together under the car- however it seems to be quite a wait to get them- that's kind of eating at me. What are the other options for a W5 header that fits all tubes under chassis- I'm not cutting any more holes...
that wont work with TTI,s in an abody, you will probably save more work by puting the headers in the car hanging in something before installing the engine but they wont slip right in with the engine from the top since they go in under the torsionbars and one tube goes around the driverside torsionbar

He says he ran a 1 7/8" step to 2" into a 3 1/2" collector.
Then he swapped to a TTI 1 7/8" straight primary into a 3" collector and lost 23 HP.......on a 700 HP engine.
Thanks, i see now. Thats more understandable then.

The last time I installed tti's the engine was out and bolted to the k member when headers were installed on the engine- then the body was then dropped down over top of it all. There was no torsions bars in so it was as easy as can be.
You may be able with no torsion bars but you'd still have to remove the steering column I believe. That pipe really sweeps out.

i wonder how they'd work on my 416 with a 576/565, 245/250 @ .050 solid cam in it.... I wanted something a little bigger than the hooker super comps (1 3/4" tubes with 3' collector) but nothing would work with ps and the quick ratio box
It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.

now if they would make a set for my B1BA HEADS, Ill wait PAITENTLY, I guess.

Kasey, Ive said this before. Stock headers work fine with the BA head. Ive been using different sets on mine 15 years. The TTI ones mentioned in this thread will work as well. Line up a gasket and see for yourself. But one caveat, you have to cut the flanges like in this pic to clear the plugs..it would be the bee's knees if they could waterjet/lazer them before they were coated.

i talked to the guys..(locally) at headman. told them how good the tti's fit under the car ect.. he didnt really want to hear it.. so.. i then asked him...would it be possible to have a header made ..with out flanges...? or a light tac..so i could remove the flange and put on a custom flange for different heads. he said..technically yes it could be done but no warranty would apply. i said..that didnt mater to me.. havent seen them since...so dont know but this could apply to the large tti's fwiw. just ship em to me with out a head flange.. or one tacked on for assembly then i can easily remove them after i get them. then weld on custom flanges to fit what ever head i am using.....? dont most of the exhaust ports start pretty much from the same positions?
maybe with out the swedged standard shape..just round tube ends..fwiw. cheapst.

I did what ya said to my TTIs, Ill take some shots of them whanever I get to that point. I hated cutting them, and worry about no support between flanges until I noticed other headers without supports. Im just buggin on the #5 tube on my demon cause its CLOSE!!! I did accually call koffles and he told me I have 200 thousands before I hit water. I planned on taking my die grinder to my heds at the 11o-clock location on my head on that tube and take a bit off the head for plug wire clearance. I also tinged in the tube and Im sure Im gonna have a hell of a time changing plugs on Number 5, but its never easy, and I dont mind taking sh!t appart.
Thanks again HOT340...

What application are those for Vic?
Since they are advertising the new 1 7/8" TTI for OEM and Edelbrock heads, I suppose that's what they are..........I think they make them for A, B and E bodies.
