I had never seen a wrap done, we decided to give it a try for a ton of reasons, I like paint, but well the car will be changed around a bit over time.

Our sponsor filmed a time lapse of the wrap and the wiring they did, the old man stripped the harnesses for our custom harness then they put it together (and did fuel system)

Enjoy.

Dyno is a Dynapak load brake hydraulic system NOT an inertia Dyno...(in case you wonder why it looks odd)

That was a great video. I have a couple of questions. How heavy is the vinyl? I heard somewhere that you must take this off after a couple of years otherwise it really sticks to your paint. Is that true?

Got me ? We plan on re-wrapping about every season.

The "shell" paint on the car is a factory job, (I only painted, interior engine compartment, underside and trunk")

So for us it made the most sense, either paint the exterior or wrap it.

If it "damages" the paint and we need to repaint the car were in no worse shape than we were if we had painted it to start.

The wrap is the sponsors for a season, I hope and think they will continue, but even then well probably re-wrap to get a "Fresh" look....

I REALLY like the wrap for a race car.

When the car gets "retired" we can paint the scheme on it we had originally planned.

Until then when things change, rewrap, damage, rewrap, etc.

This is the first car Ive had wrapped, it will NOT be the last racer.

My sons Jr Dragster is next

3-5 year removability means it comes cleanly off the car...very little clean up....after 5 years the wrap starts bonding with the paint.
Also if your race car sits outside year around...forget it !!!....even 5 year vinyl only last 6-9 months on hoods...roofs...and trunks...3M does not warranty wrap on the hood...roof or trunk. The 3-5 designation is for the sides where direct sunlight does not hit the surface.
A standard mid sized car requires about 8-14lbs of vinly to wrap it...thats a 2mil vinyl with 1.5 mil overlam.

Any more wrap questions?

Yeah, what would something like that cost?

For Frrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeee
(Doing my best Adam Sandler impersonation)

Wraps are becoming competitive.

There is a REASON GatorWraps has a much real estate on our car as they do.

Originally it was to be wrapped at Pomona, but we busted going there.

But our Title sponsor picked up the rest of the cost.....

Call a bunch of wrap companies tell them where and how you will be competing, out of the 3 I called all 3 would do it under cost for real estate (under 1500)

Racing wraps have BIG market potential for these companies, and most of the companies are smaller and trying to make a name for themselves in performace/racing application

GatorWraps.com for example.
