does it have a single feild wire hook up on the stock alt?

I just did this on my 85 truck that I put a BB in

the 2 feild wires hook up and the batt wire hook up the same and the stock VR runs the output

not sure on a one wire set up though

I had to flip the alt over and use the single ear as a pivot point and the double ears as the adjust point with the swing arm

I used the stock non a/c BB truck alt brackets, some long spacer tubes with long bolt to mount it

I used the ps belt that came on the non a/c 440 also

I can send you a pic of the mounting and # for the belt if you want them

Yes, the Denso alternator I used has an internal voltage regulator. Also, I followed the MAD Electrical recommendation of bypassing the suspect blade connector at the bulkhead.

The alt. that I use has a Sense, Ign, and Lamp wire connector in additon to the BAT wire.

I use the starter relay as a bus. I believe I connected the alternator's "BAT" wire and the "Sense" wire to the main lug on the starter relay. The alternator's Ign. wire connects to the car's ignition run (dark blue on my car) which IIRC, was the voltage regulator lead. Lamp lead attaches to the idiot light for alt.

putting a new high amp denso alternator from say, a dodge truck, is as easy as swapping the serp pulley for a V-belt and rigging up a bracket for it. electronically, they operate the same as the old alternators.

I'm running my stock alternator in my 98 Dakota with a 1970s VR.
