Wondering what small block head is better for boosted applications, W-8 or W-9 heads?
Thanks!
Either or... with a pressurized intake system it isnt all that critical due to the pressure but a W-8 will flow more than a W-9 so it would be easier with the W-8

I was always told you want a really good flowing exhaust port, the intake is not all that important. Matt

I have read that the w9 is the lightest aluminum smallblock head made....so may be a little weak to use in very high horsepower forced induction applications......though definetly not sure on this at all.
From my own experiences with smallblock edelbrock heads, they were plenty robust to hold upwards of 25lbs of boost without lifting the heads as happens with many other 4-bolt head designs....

True that they are the lightest head BUT they also have 6 bolts per cyl to hold them down.... also they have a very good exhaust port which should really help in a pressurized system

Will be able to tell you real soon how good the W8's work. Very small chamber on them. Will be a little tricky getting a good tuneup with alot of boost. Dave are you going smallblock again? Shoot me some picks of your car. Patrick was telling me a little about it.

the W9's tend to crack in the rocker supports in all out drag racing applications.

I never hear this for people who use them for racing , just people repeating it.
