There is no sequence other than doing them in increments.

tighten up the bolts/or nuts for studs on all but the number 3 cap to about 20-30 ft lbs. tighten the number 3 cap to 10 ft lbs. With a brass hammer/punch tap the ends of the crankshaft back and forth to set the thrust bearing. Check your end play .002-.007 is about right. Then going from the center out tighten up each cap in segments,50,75,then to 85 for stock bolts. arp bolts using their lube 80 ft lbs. Hope this helps.

1,2,4,5 in order so you can check the turning torque after each one to catch a problem then LIGHTLY snug #3 and tap the crank back & forth several times w a rubber mallet or dead blow hammer to align the thrust bearing halves' thrust faces then w a screwdriver pry/hold it (the crank) forward and torque down the #3 cap & recheck the turning torque like you did on the rest of them. Before you put the pan on be sure and lube the side thrust faces. EDIT I like to set each cap on there lightly and screw in each bolt a few turns then tap one cap END CAREFULLY/LIGHTLY so that ONE end of the cap starts into the register and I hold it in place there w my fingers then start/tap the other side in slightly (continuing to hold both sides even) then tap the cap in the center to draw the cap evenly the rest of the way down as opposed to letting one end fall all the way in then using the bolt on the other end to pull the other end down). I feel it keeps the registers tighter & better fitting.
