For what its wort I ordered this one

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayIS...e=STRK:MEWNX:IT

I'll post a pic when I get it later this week. I figured for $30 if I didn't use it for the GTX I could put it on a driver.

Buddy of mine has found that the front spoiler for the new Challengers will fit the 70-74 cars with a little work and a heat gun. Looks very good on there too. Maybe they could be made to fit other Mopars?

I was looking at an old issue of Popular Hotrodding yesterday and there was a picture gallery of a 71 Torino with a front dam. I think it looks pretty good. They are about $60 I believe. I looked at the Camaro ones on ebay and there seemed to be a price difference based on the quality. Meaning the cheap ones were thin and easily breakable? I don't know but that is what some of the vendors were claiming.

I actually bought two different air dams. One for a 83 Ranger and one from a 67-68 Camaro. The one from the Ranger came last night and looks good. I'll take some pictures and take some measurements tonight. The one for the ranger was like $25 and the one for the Camaro was like $20. I have no problem with them bending or breaking if I hit something, better than bending the base metal they are bolted to.

I'm not sure which one if either will work. Just thought I'd give it a try

always worth considering testing how well an air dam works:

http://web.archive.org/web/2004080307322...tDownCalcs.html

note in the above JAVA app the term they give you labeled Cd times A has the A in meters squared even if you specify everything else in square feet

NASCAR teams do this despite their wind tunnel work:

I have them both but my cars still in heated storage, not at home. I'll take pictures of the two air dams when I'm home tomorrow.

I'll try to get over to the car this week for a test fit.

Finally got the air dam mocked up on the GTX, which do you like? First two pictures are the Camaro model and the second two are of the Ranger

Which air dam?

The Camaro spoiler pics are sort of dark in the spoiler region. The reflectorized liceanse plate is messing up the flash.

I'd like to see the Ranger spoiler on narrower car that has a lower valance like a: 67-69 Barracuda, 70-72 Dart/Demon, 64-65 Barracuda.

Agreed, way too hard to tell how it looks. Interested though, might save me some fab work.

Honestly both look pretty good in person.

I have some options.

1. I can mount the one from the ranger way up front just behind the bumper. If I go the route I will install the stock splash pan between the bumper and core support.

2. I can install the ranger air dam back from the bumper and direct some air upwards into the radiator.

3. I can only mount the camaro air dam in one place, it would mount back from the bomper and would likely do a better job at directing air upwards since its angled.

I will need to take a couple more pictures.

Thanks for taking the time to report on this. I have wanted to put an air dam on my Duster and haven't been able to find something that would be easy to install.

I'm not familiar with Dusters but I think these are both pretty simple to install on nearly any car. For the pictures I just used clamps but I see that I could easily mount either to the bumper brackets. In places where there is nothing to mount to a short piece of strapping or small piece of aluminum will work really well

The purpose of an air dam is to enhance aerodynamics and stability of the car by blocking the flow of turbulent air under the chassis and pushing it around the car.

if your "pushing air" its adding resistance. so how does that enhance the aerodynamics? if you want to go that route, a belly pan works much much better. depending on the front spoiler placement, it'll add a little more cooling to the rad and downforce to the front.

Because the resistance caused by the air dam is less than what is created by air traveling through and around the chassis and suspension. A belly pan would better, but is a LOT more difficult to add.
