Have a pair of the large shock mount plates, one is good, the other, the threaded stud for the shock is stripped. Just wondering if either I can punch a new stud in, or..something else, I had an idea of building it up with a welder and then cutting a new, correct size thread. Or should I just replace it?

I'm open for ideas.

I just rethreaded the stripped part with the next size under die. It's been 16 years and still holding.
