Does anyone know the standard axle used on the 67 Coronet wagons with a 318/auto trans?

As far as I know 8,3/4's were used in all 67 B bodies. The only other option was the Dana 60 in the 440 and Hemi engined automatic cars. Dana 60 was standard on 440 and Hemi engined 4speed cars.

I tore it apart last night and yes, to My surprise (I didn't know this) it was an 8 and 3/4 rear. The neat thing is that all the parts were numbered which will make it easier for Me to replace them.

The bearings that is were numbered. Good thing that this thing broke down before it killed Us. I read stories here on Moparts about the whole axle coming off the housing while it was rolling! Good thing that didn't happen here.

No problem, if you are going to use the stock type bearings, make sure you pack them well with a good bearing grease. (As they are not lubed by the axle gear oil) There are seals in the axle tubes just inside where the axle bearings seat that prevent the gear oil from getting to the bearings. If the seals are bad you will end up with gear oil in your brake drums.
