I am custom making a shifter handle for a slap stick shifter and after seeing this post got the ambition to try to make my own pistol grip. It is by no means factory, but hey I am making the whole handle myself so it doesn't really matter. Anyways just wanted to post a pic of it and thank everyone who posted pics earlier in the thread...I used them as a guide to make my own. It is made out of Walnut by the way. I carved it with a 90 degree angle grinder with a 3 inch sanding disc...took all of about 2 hours to complete. now I need to make the metal arm to hold it to the shifter and a way to engage the push button.

After all these years having a 440 I realized that this means having an attitude... and a budget.

I don't have a dog in this hunt (I don't sell the Peru wood grips any longer) so I'm coming from a neutral standpoint.

Just out of curiosity I bought a few of the grips linked above (on Cuda/Challenger) and they are ok, but they are not nearly as nice as the Peruvian examples. The difference is the shape is a stylized version of what pistol grip might be, but they are quite a bit different in shape as compared to originals (the Peru grips are VERY accurate to OEMs). Also, the finish is not as refined or polished as the Peru grips are, it looks like a decent sanding job with a quick spray of clear coat (you can feel and see imperfections in the clear coat).

As far as I'm aware, no. He still sells the automatic versions through Resto Ricks site but not 4 speeds AFAIK. You could make a special request of Domingo, he would have the final say on that one. I know it was quite an involved process for him to trek across Lima (HUGE city) to the opposite side of town to visit the shops where they were being made.

from what I can tell...and from what I remember after buying one of Domingos shifters, with the green grips..The clear coat is better on domingos...But if he isnt making them..then?
I would also like to get another shifter...because let mine go, when I sold the dodge demon, it was in...been cussing myself ever since! because it was perfect !!!
Domingo.....hopefully, you can maybe...bring these back for a small run???
if I remember..wasnt the price raised up to something like 600 bucks?
That..seems a little high..but they were THAT nice....i would still buy one.

I told my son he should make some.We have a ton of black walnut, oak, tiger maple etc,If he can make bows Im sure he can make something as simple as grips. He even makes custom walking sticks. He is now working on a bow with deer antlers for the strings to attach and waiting to see if his cousin can get him some rattle snake skins.Plus he is doing another one for a friend. He is also making a bed from black walnut that will be rustic.Rocky
