My AAR sixpack hood just came in for my Demon. I was going to go out and try to test fit it to see how much work it will take. So, how do I remove the hood hinge springs (bolt on hood)? Just use a prybar or large screwdrive and "pop" them off or???

If you take off your wheel and tire there should be an access door screwed to the rear of the inner fender well. Be careful though as they like to unwind in a big hurry.

Clean it, if it's Dirty. Oil it, if it Squeaks. But: Don't fix it, if it Works!

I have the splash shields out so I can get right to them. Do they just pop off or is something holding them on?

My Barracuda had little metal tabs that held the center of the spring on. I did it the easy way and removed the whole hinge assembly

My hood a bolt on so I need the hinges. I just went out and popped the pigtail portion off the post and left the spring on the stud for now so I could mount the hood.

Thanks for the help!

I doubt you'd be able to pop the springs off with hinges still on the car,the split pin that holds center of the spring is very tough to pry open,it's alot easier when the hinge is off,lay it on floor or vise, using flat head or chisel and hammer open up the pin so the spring can be pulled off, you may also use cut off tool and grind down the tabs of the pin to release the spring, it will be a PITA pulling off the clips that hold the hinges especially with fenders on.

Don't forget to buy new retainers ,as the old ones will be destroyed

here is a few pics I found on here

Yeah...I meant remove the hinge assembly to get the spring off. Then, put the hinge back on. My hood is a bolt on too, but removing the hinge was much easier than trying to remove the spring inside the inner fender

Can you get the push locks/clips that holds the hinge to the car somewhere new? I'm getting ready to remove some hinges but haven't found a vender selling these. You guys have a link to someone who has them?

Thanks for the additional information guys.

I just left my springs hanging there after I released the tension (left the spring on the center stud). It shouldn't fall off I guess but I wonder if it will rattle

Anybody else just leave them hanging there?
