Unlike the "normal" (if there is such a thing!) M1 intakes it has MP's 4500 plenum, but with the carb pad filled in for 4150.

That's actually the problem w/ the Stage VI RB 4150 version, too. It didn't look as obvious in the pics of this version as it does on the Stage VI piece. If that's all MP did, my expections for how well the "mystery" intake performs are pretty low, to be blunt.

Hopefully Andy will be forthcoming as always with test results, it should be interesting to see how they all do, if has time enough to try them all. He doesn't seem to have run any ported intakes in the past (that I can remember)?

Whatcha say Andy, any plans to port manifolds and test them...

So far I haven't seen any race single planes that I thought looked wonderful out of the box, that I didn't think would work better with a little work done. My Victor had a really gross-looking carb pad and plenum which seems to be the norm....But the street-oriented single planes I've bought (Torker, St dominator, etc) have all been really nice and clean looking although they also worked better after a little grinding too.

Back on topic...Brad, your thinking seems to agree with Barton's who describes the 337 intake as

A flower pot

But I dunno buddy, personally I think with 505CI and the larger port heads, the 4500 plenum might work OK? Hopefully Andy won't make us wait for the magazine article.

That 337 is a very nice intake. It acts alot like the M1 intake, very good mid range and upper RPM. There was a time where that intake and the 2.14 / 1.81 MW iron heads were avaliable at the same time. A good customer on mine used this combo on his 505ci. pump gas engine and made a very nice sleeper.
