It's been a long time since Mopars had a real competitive heads up class since King of the Street. I know there have been other heads up racing out there, but never really caught on. This class would have an emphasis on LOW COST, since alot of cars would already fall into this category. Here are the rules. 1)3500# min weight(no weight breaks) 2)max cid 540(must use a STOCK BLOCK!!!) 3)must run INDY SR or 440-1 heads. 4)single carb on cast available intake(no sheet metal)(no E85 or Methanol) 5)stock frame rails(no front or back halves) 6)no wheelie bars 7)max tire as stamped on tire. 31x10.5W 8)max 4 foward gears. manual or auto. 9)stock appearing interior. no sheet metal. 10)stock appearing bodies. no ground effects or spoilers. 11)hood scoops ok. max height 10" fastest 16 qualifiers. Indy could sponsor for obvious reasons. Anyone interested???

Heads up racing: Is the best way to run, but without limiting the horsepower or the size of the tire. Thnig is to put four categories, one for 8 seconds, one for 9 seconds, a 10 s and 11. That way if you don't have the Money to run 8 seconds you can run 10 seconds. In every heads up start your car would have to keep low 10 seconds and you need to have a good reaction to win the category of 10 seconds because if you drop to 9 seconds, cars competing in nine seconds will be in nine seconds low and your 10 second car won”t have a chance. This way, you have four categories, four winners, each preparing his car and invest whatever they can, and include more cars the day of competition. That's how we race over here in Peru
I'm not suggesting an index class. Some of us like the idea of going as fast as possible with are given combos, but without spending boatloads of money to be competitve. This would promote an emphasis on tuning.

Good luck with car count with all those rules. Why does the car have to weigh 3500pounds, why only Indy heads, why stock block, why............... That's why I just goof off with my car, all these classes at different tracks with all the different rules.

Sorry, but I have to ask... does your car fit these rules EXACTLY, by some chance?

First you said N/A only...there are hardly any 9.0 N/A 3500 pound mopars out there..I can only think of a handful that could run 8.90's at 3000 pounds???
10.0 n/a class maybe...
Good luck...

'Problems that I see: 1) Limiting the heads to Indy products 2) The naturally aspirated thing would be a stretch. 3) The stock block thing is going to get rid of about 50% of the serious head count. It would still be a very cool class they way you set it up, I just don't see that many cars that could compete given those stipulations (brand wise, especially). If it was my race I'd set a weight limit for every general combo (n/a, turbo, SB N20, etc) and specify parts that connot be used (aka B1MC, 572-13, etc). Cool idea!

If you don't have the money to buy a aftermarket block you don't have the money to go heads up racing.
Can't you buy iron blocks for around 2500? You will have 12-1500 in a stock block thats looking for a place to break anyway.

You sure are restricting the field with just Indy heads... why not any head with a bonus if you do run a Indy head.... I dont come close to fitting in but its a suggestion
