mopowers OP master M Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 3,017 Sac, CA	Is a special hole saw needed for notching chrome moly tubing?? I need to notch a couple tubes of chrome moly for my buddy's race car and all I have is the 1 5/8 bi-metal hole saw I used when I did my MS cage. I want to make sure I don't mess up the saw. I've never even touched a stick of CM, so please excuse my ignorance. Thanks guys!

bcrproducts super gas Joined: Nov 2003 Posts: 1,279	The key is to use a slow speed when cuttin moly with a hole saw. The tips burn out quick when using a high speed drill. I have use wood and metal saws with great results. I now use holehawgs in my vertical mill, but I do a lot of notching---Greg www.bcrproducts.com
