don't have direct experience, but have a friend who has one on his 440, dual 650 carters, i believe. he likes it, but also knows that it is more for looks. with the relatively stock setup, (rebuilt engine with a good cam, slightly higher compression, mildly done heads, headers), he knows he could probably do better with a single 4. but he's happy with it.

Andy, I see Thunders What size? and have you run them as duals before? Any differences to setting them up in pairs opposed to the performers? Are you going to run progressive linkage or lock them together? I have an offy dual quad setup for a low deck... lots of questions here.

I wish Edelbrock made a dual carb manifold for the 340-360. I am gonna run this on my 360. Its an Offenhauser single plane for the 273-318. It will make much less power than an RPM and a good single 4bbl but I love the nostalgic looks of "Dual Quads"

i'm runnin it ,using 600cfm carter competition series carbs...it's not the fastest set-up, but i like it..you can't beat the nostalgia look of the dual 4's.. ...i can't really speak to the streetability of it...i had a few issues at first gettin them to idle(i had no instructions or exp.)..but with alittle help from a few of the members here, we got it to run. car idles fine and drives good at low throttle thru the pits- with no problems...

I'm using a CH28 on my '62 Sport Fury convertible. It has a more or less stock 440 with a 280-480 cam. I'm using two Edelbrock 500's with progressive linkage. I'm very pleased with the set-up. Admittedly there are lots of single four set-ups that would out perform the 2X4's. But my car is a driver/cruiser not a race car. The 2X4 set-up gets lots of looks and comments at cruises.

I am actually building one this winter (*sort of) I am using my existing 440/4bbl/906 and removing the 906's to replace with Eddy's, then follow through with removing the 906s and going to the Performers. The final upgrade will be the dual quads. Now my engine is set up at 9.5:1, Isky Mega 280, converter flashes at 2600, I have gear vendors and 3.55's. I am going to use the Eddy 500cfm's. I have the entire set up mocked up on my spare engine which is bored and stroked to a 512 which was the original intended target. I have been collecting the CH28 parts for about 6 years now. My last job before the surgery is to do some gasket matching and grinding with the dremel on the ports. (I spent $90 at the store last weekend for dremel bits) My intake is ceramic coated as are the headers. I purchased AndyF's book and its a delight to read. All the different setups and accessories to use. There is no direct section on CH28 (its mentioned though) There is no real world book on dual quads and I have never been one to be like one of the rest....The intimidation factor of when you pop that hood open and everyone adorns the duals....its a sight to be reckoned with. No one wants to race you at that point. Its kinda funny.. 1st pic is the actual setup.....2nd pic shows the height...I know I am going to have to mill those stacks about halfway. There is no way those are going to fit under a stock 69 Charger hood. I look forward to hearing of your experience and tuning with it as I am sure we will get to know each other better in the coming months trying to figure out tuning

Very nice Pyper! Dialing in the CH28 is much easier than the 6 pack. I ran 2 500s on my street duty challengers. Used a direct linkage-1 to 1 as recommended by an Eddy tech. With my 509 cam the step up springs needed to be changed out. Im sure my set ups were not optimized for the strip but man they did not miss a beat! The sound of all 8 barrels gettin it on is a wonderfull sound. This setup is no sluch. Many are quick to condemn it. I believe this set up is not the compromise that the Offenhauser 2x4 proved to be in Dulcichs 383 intake dyno shootout. On a 440 the manifold is rated to 6000rpm. Many on this board who have big cammed 440s find they run there best times shifting under six grand- despite their cam being capable of 6000 plus rpm.

The biggest problem with the Offy manifold during that "shootout" is that it was pig rich-> 10.8:1. It had to have been blowing black smoke like crazy. No wonder it was down on power. Now if someone would have called and ordered some jets to get it in the ballpark the Offy 2X4 wouldn't have been so bad.

I made my own linkage kit so I can run them 1:1. The carbs are 500 cfm manual choke units. Probably be on the dyno by the end of the week or maybe next week. Motor is making about 600 hp with a Performer RPM intake so it will be interesting to see what happens when we put the CH-28 on there.
