Whats your guys combos? Have a 440 im thinkin about puttin a small (70mm ish) turbo on to have some fun on the street. Has decent internals(eagle rods, srp pistons) and iron 452 heads. not trying to make 9000hp just something fun that will be kinda a sleeper

a 70mm might be best. they are atleast $500 cheaper than an 88mm and are still rated for 800hp<

plus it will be easier to fit into a mopar

I would recommend the largest turbo that fits into your budget. If you can find a great deal on a 76mm you will be ok, but an 88 will be better for the growth that is always bound to happen, the ar will be good at anywhere between .96 to 1.15 with the amount of cubes you have. any smaller and i think you will be giving up power and and larger and you will slow your spool up time, i run a 1.5 ar but i am hoping the 500" helps make up for that.

No procharger on this one. Just wanna do a small turbo on this motor to make decent power. ( i don't think 700hp ish would be real hard on it) Like i said its a basic build motor and thats what i wanna keep it.

700 hp is a piece of cake and with correctly sized turbo there is not more lag than with a procharger.

Im trying to run off the beaten path. the challenger is so far out in left field right now i wonder daily if it will ever get done. This new car with the turbo deal should be something to keep me busy and not need the millions of dollars the challenger needs just something fun you can jump in and drive anywere and still be pretty fast.

They've both got their places, I've got nothing against Prochargers, and would love to have one someday..

The price difference between the two can be substantial though. Considering you need to think about the cost of your headers on top of a Procharger kit, its pretty easy to have well over $6 grand in an F2 kit and good headers. Many times you can save a couple grand on a turbo kit with a comparable rated turbo, as the headunits are a fair amount cheaper.

PS. A Borg Warner S400(75mm)is basically PERFECT for your goals. They are around $600 bucks, will support over 1000 horse, but they are very happy in the 6-700 range on low boost. The 1.32 housing would be great on the 440 as well.

11.48 @ 120 with a 1.80 60' 318, stock 1.88 heads, stock 904, Pump Gas, 13 lbs of boost.

9.94 @ 134, 318 on pump gas, 14 lbs w/ Eddies, transbrake 727, 3600 lbs, 3.54 gear and 28's.

Really depends on your fab skills and amount of time you want to put into it. In that category the supercharger wins. Bolt it together and go instead of custom welding your own turbo headers and piping the exhaust in. Sounds like it will be a very fun ride as long as you have the skills needed and can swing the time to do it.

True and not. People like me will happily fab the kit for you. Not many people "fab" a procharger kit either, they order one with everything already one in a kit. The original poster wasn't questioning which way to go, his SN is prochargedhemi, but he says he wants to do a basic turbo setup, so obviously he's willing to tackle the fab, or has someone to do it for him.
