Turbos work great - in automatic cars. The Prochargers will make boost with RPM and are easier to leave with in clutch cars. Turbos don't build boost well from the small throttle opening to make no load launch RPMs. Turbos like (and need) the stall from the converter to load the motor, make boost, and make power, where the Procharger isn't as fussy. They both have their merits, just for different applications.

Which is what I said first and foremost. I wasnt trying to turn this into a debate when the original poster obviously knows and understands the differences.

About 85 percent of drag racers run automatics anyways... but with something as simple as a two step, tons of manual trans cars build boost at the line.

11.48 @ 120 with a 1.80 60' 318, stock 1.88 heads, stock 904, Pump Gas, 13 lbs of boost.

9.94 @ 134, 318 on pump gas, 14 lbs w/ Eddies, transbrake 727, 3600 lbs, 3.54 gear and 28's.

Has to be a turbo so the debate there is over. The issue i am having is im not the "most" knowledgeable with all the supporting things that go with a turbo (wastegate and blowoff) as said earlier this is kinda a "spend the money once" deal so i want to make sure i get all the pieces that work together.

find a 76-88mm turbo t6 flange... buy a 60mm tial wastegate and a tial q bov and never look back. then call c&s or csu for a blow thru carb. then carb hat and fab away.......now i would watch yellow bullet and the turbo forums for all of these things.....you can find people who thought they were interested in the challenge and then realized they were just chevy guys pretending........feel free to pm or email for any info....

Really depends on your fab skills and amount of time you want to put into it. In that category the supercharger wins. Bolt it together and go instead of custom welding your own turbo headers and piping the exhaust in. Sounds like it will be a very fun ride as long as you have the skills needed and can swing the time to do it.

True and not. People like me will happily fab the kit for you. Not many people "fab" a procharger kit either, they order one with everything already one in a kit. The original poster wasn't questioning which way to go, his SN is prochargedhemi, but he says he wants to do a basic turbo setup, so obviously he's willing to tackle the fab, or has someone to do it for him.

I don't disagree with you. Just wanted to throw that out there because I see a lot of people make big ideas until they see the work involved, then lose interest. Like I said, if you want to do it, it should make for a sweet ride.
