I'm not talking about some of these fun 22 second index races. I mean what was the slowest car you've taken down the track, at it's maximum potential? My slowest three:
1. A borrowed '79 Mustang with a V6. Made it to the finals dialed 21.98. People hated me that night.
2. A somewhat six slant six powered Mirada. 22.22 dial, won some rounds each time out.
3. A borrowed Mid '80s Cavalier. 22.90 dial. That's all it had!

13.30 IN MY stock max wedge dodge 330 unmodified with stock tires. so slow i was watching the spectators in the stands after i finished pushing buttons.

I rented a Stratus 2.4/auto a couple of times to run in the "ricer class"; it started out around 16.50 but would pick up a tenth or two every pass. I was probably the first person to work the thing hard, I guess. It was like shootin' fish in a barrel since none of those kids could leave on time, but after the 4th round I either got greedy or bored and ran the thing out (thinking I'd dialed enough to cover the expected ET improvement). So I threw it away, but had fun. Second time out, I actually got the same car, and went a few rounds until I had to be somewhere else, and left the track early. On a .500 tree, I'd shallow stage and leave on the 3rd yellow. I can't remember the car's best ET, pretty sure it was low 16s. Sure ran good after a little exercise, though.

'66 Coronet 2-door slant auto. Learned how to wire open the exhaust manifold heat control valve. Also learned I could leave on the 4th amber (5 amber tree). The car was deadly consistent, I won 11 races in 1974-75. Car ran 19.6's.

I would give my left nad for that car now.

A few years ago I was in my 80 aspen running trophy class in the 1/8th mile. I was a 7.80 dial. The guy next to me 19.5 dial. His 1/4 might have been 25+. He was in a plymouth reliant.

Well, as many people here know, my wife runs her 67 Series 2A Land Rover at our local track. One race she dialed 25.00 against the Subaru that dialed 13.00. Unfortunately, she lost that one but did once win against a Corvette driven by the Vice President of our Drag Racing association.

It was deadly and I could leave flat to the floor and just let off the brake. Had the bye in it the 3rd round of footbrake the day I run it.

67 Belvedere 273 9 pass. wagon ran mid 16s good bracket car was very consistent lots of fun to drive always lookin back at competition. Mick

My Dodge Spirit 2.5 19.70's. Points race that I was sure would get rained out, but I didn't want to drag the trailer 80 miles. Only made 2 passes and got rained out.

I made a pass in friend of mines mom's convertable cavalier once. No idea what it ran as it was at our Midnight Grudge races. Just an idea how slow it was I lost by two car lengths to a friends 66 Fury III with a stock 2bbl 318 poly. So thats really like three car lengths if your not talking C-body.

In 1989 at Famoso during an NDRA race we got tired of making passes(I made 22 in one day) so for fun they created a "motorhome" race. 4 motorhomes entered. We (all 5 of us) were in my Dad's 77 Pace Arrow packin a 440....we broke out(went 27.99 on a 28.50 dial) against a 454 powered Class A that dropped the exhaust and ran open headers.....crazy days back then....

'76 Dart, stock 225 with 180,000 miles on it. Fully matted to the floor it ran a best of 19.3 and a worst of 22.8.

I felt like I could read War and Peace in between the time the green light came on and the finish line finally showed up.

It was horribly inconsistent and made a terrible bracket car.

It's much more fun now with a 360 in it.

I had a bone stock, 100% original, 70 Dart with a slant six that ran in the 21's.........It had big and skinny aluminum slot wheels on it and I hauled it to the track, because it wasn't tagged and insured yet.......You should have seen people's faces, that were lining up for the midnight drags, when I was leaving with a 21.20 dial in on the window of a car being hauled to the track.......

Back in the late '60s & early '70s one of my friends had a six cylinder Nova three on the tree that he could get to shift quickly. Since I had experience with that set up as well as my four speed '63 Sport Fury he asked me to run it for him. I don't remember the times, but it definitely wasn't any rocket. This was back in the days when Gateway was a 1/8 mi. track run by Tiny Minor. Tiny didn't believe in spending a lot of money on frivolous things like shut down room. As slow as that Nova was, trying to get it stopped with the ridiculous nine in. drums "the General" used was interesting to say the least. One guy with a truly fast Camaro actually rolled it trying to stop. Ah! The good old days.

As soon as I turned 16, I took my parents' '61 impala (4-dr hdtp, 6-cylinder, power glide) to Great Lakes Dragway. Went 22.4 and floated the valves. When I picked up my time slip, the official said "Whatya got there, a bicycle?" Never could stop floating those valves.

First car I took down the track alone, 1994 Dodge Grand Caravan Limited Edition. 3.3 Liters of fury was good for 18.05

I've had Slant cars run as slow as 21:30's.

I won the first Drag News Race for the Ring at RT66 with my Duster. I went 19:707 on a 19:70 while the S/Pro car broke out trying to catch me.

I had my race car break, and unhitched and emptied my 1994 Dodge B350 Van (tow vehicle) with 200,000 miles to go to the next round. I deep staged and cut a 0.030 light, the dial-in was 17.08 (Aug 18, 2007)

Just a few weeks ago, in the street class I was against a 16.87 dial-in with my 9.25 dial-in. The closing speed at the stripe was 80 mph vs 140 mph...
