They sell the Krinkle finish in a can. One word of advise with this stuff....it works best in warmer temps. If its too cold it will not krinkle evenly.

Here is a brand that Eastwood sell..

Use a heat gun to make it wrinkle.

I use the krinkle finish product and force dry with a hairdryer...it brings out the krinkle more prominently.

Rustoleum actually has a rattle can of "textured black". It is pretty darn close.

Everyone I know has used Krylons wrinkle black finish Or i've heard Harley Davidsons wrinkle black is dead on but good luck spraying it, i bought four cans and not one sprayed it decent enough! It's true, you have to have a warm day!

Personally, after i primered it i sprayed it with a heavy coat and slid it into the oven--put it on 400 degrees and after only a minute or two it wrinkled right up. You can do it in the sun but you may get mixed results, an oven gets even results all of the way around

I've used Krylon for years with good results. Both air cleaner and valve cover on the /6 are Krylon. It's tough stuff.

The Krylon is great stuff. But to get it right without the oven or hair dryer which I've never tried personally, you got to do it in the direct sunlight with at least a 80 degree day. Let it sit in the sun and get super hot to the touch and then spray it very evan. Too much or too little one place or the other will cause the wrinkle effect to be different than the rest of the part. Follow those simple instructions and you won't be able to tell the difference from an orignal job. Its that good.

VHT High Temp wrinkle black with a heat gun. Awesome results, about $11.

This trick helps the quality of spray for ANY spray can style paint.

Shake the can vigorously for several minutes !!!

Next place the can in a bowl of hot, out of the tap, water. The water should be hot to the touch but not scalding. It only needs to sit in the water for a minute or so. The paint will spray so nicely you'd swear you were using a spray gun.

If you don't feel comfortable putting a can of paint in hot water you could also place the can on a heat register while the furnace is running. The whole idea is to give the can a bit more internal pressure. But remember to shake the can for several minutes before spraying no matter what. Lord knows how long it's been sitting on a shelve or in a box before you bought it.

The hot water trick works well, but I just sit the spray can in front of my warm air furnace. Gets quite warm! Spray on 2 heavy, almost runny coats (but do NOT run it) and wait about 10 minutes. THEN start the heat gun, the wrinkle spreads like a virus. Too cool!
