I'm helping a friend restore a 71 Challenger R/T. It has a build sheet but no fender tag. This is what I have so far as to what should be on the tag M21 N41 N42 N85 R26 CTD C55 G11 G36 J45 J54 V1W C A01 A36 B51 C16 EV2 H5XX 000 331 B41894 E87 D32 JS23 V1B 100001
V68 26 EN2 JS23 V1B 100001
Its a Canadian car. Its a rubber bumper M73 car and a rear speaker car as well! Would those codes show too?
The car was supposedly sold in Manitoba!

My 71 Cuda has dual rear speakers and there is no mention of the rear speakers on the original fender tag. I take it that's not the correct VIN

You should contact Nigel Mills or Arron Houble. Either one of those guys may have more info on the car including the original selling dealer.
Do you have contact information for them....
I didn't remember it was a Canadian car until he got out the buildsheet!
White top and a houndstooth cloth interior!

I would try contacting Doug Lepak in Edmonton. I believe he was the person who either sold, or was involved in the sale, of the car originally.

Hi Pete! Yes I was trying to buy that car when it was in Edmonton and here is the history as I know it.
The car sold new in Oshawa Ontario then made it's way out West to Edmonton in 1973 where it was traded for a 1973 Lincoln at Prestige Motors by the University prof. owner. In around 1995 I sold a 1970 340 Red on Red Challenger conv. to Bill Dekker who still owns Prestige Motors today.
Bill sold it to Gary and Grant in Vegerville in 1974 for $8000 Canadian.
They build it into a race car with a few modifications such as trunk mounted gas tank, rear wheel lips trimmed for slicks, a Dana rear end etc ... They named it "FEVER" and it had that name emblazoned on the doors.
The 2 owners split after the race track shut down in 82', one got the car with the race drivetrain in it and the other guy got the original drivetrain. I looked at the car when it was for sale back in the mid 80's while it was still in Vegerville but the guy with the original drive train wouldn't sell it so I passed on the deal.
The car was sold to the "The Little Lot" in 1988 (a used performance/collector dealer in Edmonton) for $4000 Canadian and I tried to trade him my 77 Camaro with an LT1 in it and a perfect body but Dan wouldn't go for it.
In steps Rod from Breton, he bought the car and it went South of Edmonton. I made him an offer on the car minus the drivetrain and he accepted. When I went to pay him for the car , the rubber bumpers were missing !!! I asked where they went and he said Sam (Winnipeg) bought them. Apparently he kept offering Rod more and more cash till Rod caved and sold them to him. I suggested that he reduce the price of the car by what Sam paid him for the bumpers ($1600 Canadian) and when he declined I suggested where he could shove the car ...
Sam had just purchased a 1970 440+6 Cuda conv. (Orange, White) and had come to pick it up when he stopped by Rod's place and bought the bumpers. I should have bought the car minus the bumpers and run some chrome ones till I could have afforded the urethane ones.... but it was the principle of the thing that pissed me off.
If you'd like to e-mail me I can fill in some of the details I left out and maybe you can get reunited with the original drivetrain. Anyhoo the car ended up going to California shortly after that and I never heard of it again till now.

Well I purshased the car from Dietmar Sedems (that's probably spelt wrong) and the car did come with the original block.
The name on the car was "VEG FEVER"
The car was painted last weekend -

I dont believe M73 rubber bumpers were coded on a Challenger fender tag as such..
I'm glad you guys from Manitoba still got Sam there...seems every car he was involved with in every other province or state he travelled, resulted in some sort of
Terry,
There is no M73 on the fender tag - just on the build sheet

My YO7/A66 is an ex-Sam car. A member gave me some details about Sam possibly having my build sheet but after a few tries on the web, I have not been able to get an email or a good phone number to try and contact him. The "member" gave me a cool story about showing up at Sams place to buy my car back in the late 80's I believe, but he ended up buying a convert from Sam instead. Small world!!

If M73 shows on the buildsheet, shouldn't A22: 70-71 Elastomeric Colored Front & Rear Bumper Package, also show up on the buildsheet?
A22 would also be on the fender tag, wouldn't it?

A22 is the Barracuda / 'cuda package so it would not be on a Challenger fender tag or build sheet.

So how would rubber bumpers show up on the fender tag? For a Challenger?
