Hello My name is James Kirby, not the funny car racer, from Missouri. I have a question, in a post possibly of your you mention your father was a friend of the Fontanini & Nanini Racing team. I wondered if you might have any pictures, stories, articles from them, during there funnycar years. I am a collector of there stuff. I actually own there 1968 Stinger Charger Funnycar, and collect anything I can find on it. The photos from webshots are mine, so anything there, I have. I do have contact with Alberts 3 cousins, and received all they had, I have spoken to Reno and Vince, several times also. I have sent both familes copies of everything I could find, I also have three national magazines featuring the car. Let me know if you have anything, thanks. I'd be happy to send you anything for your dad, if he's with us.

This picture was taken at Fall Fling 2000 in Van Nuys, CA. Wonder if it was a big name racer's back in the day??
I don't see many posted here with the rounded "T-top"
About 7 or 8 years ago, my buddy and I traded a guy a powerwagon for a jeep. We went to his house above LA (I can't remember the city) and that truck was sitting in the backyard. He said it belonged to famous drag racer back in the day. I can't remember who he said but I do remember that it was big name. I think he said "The Mongoose" but not 100%.
Well, that's a second sighting of it.
Was it up in Valencia or Canyon Country? That north of LA. What's above LA to you?
It does look a lot like Prudhomme's restored truck. I think Mongoose's was nearly identical. I heard the rounded T-top was not very common. Like these rigs were made up for big name teams??

This truck was bought at auction from Columbia Gas. Frame lengthened, new driveshafts and carrier bearing and bed all done in a garage by Dave Mosley and Rich Headrick. Lots of storage, water tank and pump. 318!!! two speed axle. Went to Gainesvile/Bradenton in76. Englishtown, Indy, Columbus, and local. Put a lot of miles, used as much oil as qas!!

I live in Simi Valley. But not originally from here (WLA guy). But I know long time Mopar guys around here and some are drag racers too.
