Good morning all, I'm blurry eyed from a long night of wrenching! I am bummed, I tried to bolt up the tc last night and discovered the one out of the 904 has a 10" bolt spread, the one that came with my 727 has 11". the motor is a stock 318. Do I need to find a 727 10" er?? Thanks guys, please help!!

Yes there are 2 different bolt patterns, which means 2 different flex plates. They need to match.

Also you cant use a 904 converter on a 727. They have different diameter input shafts.

Let me get this straight. You are putting a 904 in place of a 727 and the 727 had the large torque converter? Yeah, you need the smaller pattern flex plate. Any small block that had a 904 and any 727 with the smaller converter is a donor.

No, vise versa! I took out the 904 and am putting in a 727. so my new 727 trans and tc are to big for the flexplate on the car.
