I have a 1970 RR 440 Six pack with airgrabber hood. What is the correct Air cleaner assembly for this model. I have seen many different ones, the one I currently have which I beleive to be the original does not have any numbers stamped on it???

How many different air cleaner assemblies were made for six pack cars?

3 were made , one for 69.5 A 12 cars , one for the T/A and AAR's and one for all the rest, the std oval unit is the one you want , it's probably what you have .

Additionally a shaker six pack was offered and a non air grabber car had a shield in the front to protect fronm gunk.

1970 six-pack b-body? Pretty sure only two bases available, with and without N96. Without “fresh air” hood the base has a splash shield across the front.

with N96 (Air Grabber) will have this base

Even with the picture blown up I don't see anything different from a normal a12 base.

I can't afford this. mark

A few N96 cars had the air cleaner with the shield, such as this Dec. '69 Motor Trend road test car and also mine came with the shielded one. Most ag's didn't have the shield though from what I've been able to tell.

Do you have a picture of your car with the hood closed but the scoop open where you can see the air cleaner?

Cool. Could I use those pictures on my air cleaner identification page?

Doesn't look like the splash shield would really make much of a difference in that setup since rain would shoot right over it.

Sure, no problem. I tried to attach the pic to a PM to you but it didn't work so I've attached it here.
No, it wouldn't help with rain much but it also really doesn't block the ag all that badly. I have always wondered if it was a requirement on CA state sold cars as part of the required noise reduction package. That motor trend tested, 6bbl runner had a CA dealer plate on it.

I believe the "California Noise Reduction" AirGrabber/Ramcharger HEMI & 6bbl cars used the air cleaners WITH the shield.

Do you have anything to back that up?

I believe what Dan said is correct.

Out here we had one of the four 70 Coronet R/T 426 Hemi 4 speeds, F8 green with 14" steel wheels. I looked at it before it was restored and this is the air cleaner on the car, with the shield.
