Well, now there's only two guys chasing you... but I am thinking you should not have outrun the four Police cars...

Hey efisixpack, are you sure you didn't see a yellow smashed-up '73 Mach-1 (Eleanor) coming out of the car wash???

Hey John, that Falcon is growing on me - that is an awesome looking car! Kind of a cross between a '71 Mach-1 & the rear roofline of a '70 Torino GT.

If the weather is goot on Friday, I'll drive the Charger to work. Maybe stop by after work for a gearhead session? Tall tales & road stories of Musclecars out west, etc. Get Dale over in his new Cuda & we could order pizza? What U think??? I gotta see them cars!

It sounds like I started a trend with talking John into the Falcon eh? Who is next in line?

I want a blue OZ Charger! What engines are in those? 4-spd or auto.

XS, that was too cool! I'm sure the Daytona could easily outrun that fleet of Aussie Interceptors but them aircraft in the second pic may be a little more difficult to deal with! Oh and the bi-plane deal on MoparMal's car was a trip and a half! I could just picture ol' Mal driving that looking like that too!

451, four cops on my tail like that would only make me say "DG, give it some more gas!"

B1, if Cerritos is really close to where we were, that would be a total bummer that we didnt get to meet up with your friend Steve. That's where a lot of the memories from this trip came in was in meeting up with folks. There's always next time though!

Scott, I had heard that there was gonna be a dozen or so Aussie Fords showing up for the meet. Some were shipped in from Oz and then driven cross country like we just did. I sure wish them Ford clowns would have let us in so we could have parked with em and checked out all their cars. The cars from Oz are such a cool unexplored frontier of performance cars. Cool deal on the pink small block, I want to see the purple big block!

Hey Eric, how about Thursday? We're leaving Friday afternoon for Hamilton, Ohio for the Tri-State Chrysler Classic. Either that or next week sometime maybe???

OK, on to today's pics, here's one of DG piloting the Daytona out in the desert.

This next shot is of the Falcon trying to pass the Daytona again. Sure is pretty out west huh?

And here's a shot from our next gas stop on I-15 in Utah.

Yeah Jeff, Aussie cars have never gotten a fair shake in the U.S. and it's high time they did. The Falcon is a total kick to drive and I'm sure will definitely not be the last Aussie car I end up with. An Oz Charger with a hot 340/360 and set up to handle like the Falcon would be really cool!

AMX, I'm still not totally well-versed on Oz Chargers but the hottest factory engines were the 265 cubic inch inline six cylinder Hemis with the three Weber two-barrels. These were called the Hemi Six-Packs. The top dog versions of these put out 302 horsepower and could run very low 14 second 1/4 miles. A good number of Oz Chargers were 318 and 340 equipped. The 340's, however, were detuned versions of the American 340's. I'm sure ol' OzHemi can be of major assistance in helping you find an Oz Charger. Also, you can check out the following website which is an Australian Mopar online classifieds site. I think they also have a message board.

Moparmal sent me an e-mail the other day about getting one. I need to save some money. Seems I've seen pictures of V8's in them, but only know for sure about the six with the webers. But that would be a cool engine also. There was that post about the stolen one that was blue. Hope they found it. I like it in that blue.

OK, I went and got one of the photo albums that came with the Daytona and pulled out the three pics of the Daytona from back in the day. I still don't have my new scanner hooked up so these are digital pics of the actual pics. Pretty wild huh?

Also, Daniel, the previous owner of the Daytona has just joined Moparts and made his first post. You can view that thread at the following link:
MEET THE PREVIOUS OWNER OF THE AUSSIE DAYTONA
Be sure to give him a big Moparts welcome. Without Daniel and his dad Kevin, this whole story would have never taken place!

JH27H1_AK, thanks a bunch! I hope everyone has had as much fun following along with us as we had doing it all but I think it's one of them things where ya really had to be there!

Here's some more pics from Utah of DG passing up the Falcon out on I-15.

Thanks for the great post. The best pic so far is the last one with the mountains and the Daytona driving away. I envy ya'll for getting the opportunity to drive these cars out on the open road like they were meant to be driven. Good luck and keep us all updated.
Best to all. JH

Jim, thanks for the kind words. All through the trip, all three of us just couldn't believe we were actually pulling this off. If there is such a thing as a Great American Dream for Mopar owners, this surely was it.

Here's a few more pics of DG and the Daytona from a scenic view exit on I-70 in eastern Utah.

We spent the entire next day in Grand Junction, Colorado with Moparts member MsclcrDan and the Mopars Unlimited of Colorado. A nicer bunch of folks you'll never find! That's MsclcrDan on the left and that's his B5 Blue '70 Coronet R/T.

Great stuff John. I hope to be able to do something similar to California and back when my '68 Charger Bullitt clone is done.
