Well, in either case above you are not power shifting, once you push the clutch you loose the power part.
Back in the late 60's when sticks were a lot more common that today, the racers that I knew called POWERSHIFTING just pulling the handle without using the clutch or lifting the gas; SPEEDSHIFTING was slightly using the clutch and leaving the gas floored, and GRANNYSHIFTING was clutching and lifting the gas. Different guys call it differently, like the posi/sure-grip/traction-lock nicknames. I never saw too many guys actually powershift without using a modified trans - as in modified blocker rings and sliders. I also learned a trick we called button-shifting - you would put a switch in the shifter ball that would short the coil when pushed. As you shifted. you tapped the button, which made the motor nose over, and you could shift the trans easier. Many bikes still do it today; it's tied into the airshifter button; the tell-tale is the pop through the pipes from the ignition cycling and burning the gas out of the pipes.

Quote: Your clutchs' in-ability to slip.
For sure the posters problem with 60 ft. If you had a 5.88 rear gear and a 3.09 low gear in trans. you could probably side step the clutch.
You cant just dump the clutch. You need to let it out in stages. I have made a couple passes in my SRT-8 Challenger and let it out in 3 stages. Dumping it all at once was a horible 2.11 60 ft. Then in stages I got a 2.00 60 ft. Motor still bogged so next trip I will try a higher RPM and hopefully not find tire spin. Car went 13.20 at 108.50 MPH with the 2.11 60ft. On the 2nd pass with the 2.00 60 ft. I missed 2nd gear, and the staging lane were closed so I wont get another chance until tommorow.

Like I said, I'm sure that there is many different nicknames for shifting styles, just like for posi units and rear carriers. Posi, Traction Loc, Suregrip, Limited Slip, Pumpkin, Chunk, 3Rd Member, etc. I'm simply explaining what we called it, after someone else brought it up. I do remember my uncle shifting his 68 GTX with a well prepped Hemi box many times; no clutch or lift on 1-2, tap clutch and no lift on 2-3, and no clutch or lift on 3-4. After the vertical gates became popular, it was "Full Monty" on all of them. Brutal on trans, and it helped that he never had todays tires, and he still broke a lot of parts. As for me, I cleaned out 2nd on about my third try at powershifting my 66 T-10 Mustang, and since I didn't have the deep parts bin that he did, I went the more economcal way and did what WE called speedshifting - toe clutch with gas floored, pull handle, repeat as necessary.

Am I wrong in thinking your shifting has nothing to do with the 60' due to the fact that you should cover that first 60' in first gear or darn close to it. The only experience I have with shifting quickly is watching my instructor at school (I've since graduated, long long time ago it seems, where does the time go?) shift his 99 camaro with a jerico transmission. I know they had a clutch with adjustable spring pressure points and they would crawl under it at the track to get the right amount of slippage without it being excessive or too tight and bogging the motor. Here's a video, I know it's not a mopar, but this thing is impressive being N/A and a 4 gear stick. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3y6ZgKte3PY&feature=related

As far as my 60ft time is concerned I dont think my shifting has anything to do with it as I should cover it in 1st gear. Again it seems like there are many opinions on how to shift a manual trans car and many different ways to break parts. I have avoided breaking anything and would like to keep it that way so I will proceed with caution on my next outing at the track.
I think powershifting would pick you up 2 or 3 tenths -
It'll be hard on parts.

I remember using the same shifting terminology, but have been trying for a few days to remember the modifications made for power shifting. I think you did some welding here and grinding there but am really drawing a black. I am pretty sure Rick Allison built a few (or many).
