i finally got around to taking out all the glass out of my desoto. it needed all the glass replaced except for the rear window. 8 pieces in all, 2pc. windshield, 2 vent windows, 2 door glass, 2 rear windows. i took it to the local glass place, and had them cut pieces to match. i was surprised it was only $270 for all the glass, they did a great job. BTW my desoto is a 47 2 door sedan.

Cool beans!

Wish my '54 pickup had flat windshield glass... need to get a nice one.

Of course, I just bought not one, but TWO guitars and a '53 Ford over the last week, so now I'll be very broke indeed for a while.

Gotta' love those '46-8 cars!

Seduce the attractive, and charm the rest. ****** 489 C.I.D., roller cam, aftermarket heads, tunnel ram, stock '54 Dodge rear axle assembly: which of these doesn't belong?

Can the glass be cut oversize to mount them with urethane instead of the original rubber? I think that it would be a cleaner look and probably cheaper than sourcing the original window moulding. Just a thought.

The seems on the original pinch welds were much less then flat and are fairly short, so a considerable amount of rework is required to mount the glass with the urethane.

I did the urathane route with my 35 Dodge sedan because the pinch welds were really screwed up (did windshield and rear window). Though they didn't leak, they just didn't look right to me, we ended up adding a solid bead of urathane between the body and the glass to improve the look a little. The rubber weatherstripping is pretty cheap, and cost wise is close to what that guy laid me away to install those 2 pieces of glass with the urathane.

www.robertsmotorparts.com has the rubber for the glass for many Mopar cars and trucks, and they know Mopars and their products. Gene
