Did '71 U and V-code B-bodies use H-pipes from the factory? 71 plymouth or dodge

The parts book does not show an H pipe.

On the Broadcast sheet for my '71 U-code GTX under the box for LH and RH headpipes, mine shows LH-00 and RH-01. I think the 00 for the LH pipe means no part # assigned as it was an H-pipe assembly... Is there an H-pipe part # ending in 01? My '71 GTX has an old H-pipe on it that sure looks OEM since it has the torsion bar flats and crush spots...

The same for 01 Now I am more confused than ever... Maybe in a vintage '70-1 Parts book?

I am almost possitive that they did use an H pipe. If Eric sees this, he would be able to confirm.

That was from a December 1971 (Final Revision) Parts book. Somebody might have an earlier copy...

Eric posted the same #'s as the parts book shows for separate headpipes over on the RR nest. Does anyone have access to a survivor?

I have been following this thread and I thought there were other Survivors that would post but I guess not so I crawled under my 71 X which is a survivor and snapped this pic..... this should answer your question if it was stock or not.....

Nick- great and thanks for the pic. Do you have a Broadcast sheet for your car? If so, what does it show in the EXHAUST box for the headpipes?

No MOPAR 340 cars came from the factory with a "H"-pipe.

Unfortunately my X came from the LA plant, so my luck in finding a sheet in it was worse odds than my ex-wife becoming a saint and if you know her, then you know that this will never happen.....

Mine looks just like that with the flat spots, did you remove that pipe from a '71 440 B-body? Is that NOS or a sandblasted original?

I took it off a 71 GTX many years ago, Im pretty sure its the factory H pipe that came on the car . I sand blasted it . does a 70 H pipe have the flat spots too , I didnt think so but I cant remember.

I'll chime in with a FWIW, back in the early '80's I had a '71 Charger R/T U code/4spd car that had the original exhaust on it (40K on the on the clock then) it had an H pipe on it. Original Cal car, turn downs/ no tips
