I'm not getting my pan just yet, not sure what will fit an AlterKtion
I am gonna experiment with a steel rear sump pan and WHEN I screw that one up
I'll get a custom one from Williams Performance which runs about $450.
Missile has their own pans as well

So here's a bump, and curious to what your pic shows, an alum World BB with 4/1 Stage pump driven from the normal bb oil pump location?

actually that's a KB block with the older Missile Dry Sump with Razor components.
Steve Lanius manufactures his own pumps now and I think they are anodized red.
His pumps can come in any configuration and uses the cam gear to drive it in the stock location

here is his site:
http://www.missileent.com/
and he would have more info

Its not how much it pumps Its how it does it. I'm told a conventional pump kind of smashes the oil creating heat and small air bubbles and this is what they say is what burns your oil and wheres it out.A dry sump has head pressure on the pump thus eliminating the need for such tight clearances and not smashing the oil.IT will also act like a vacuum pump (less oil leaks) also by the time you buy the pump 2000.00 pan 500.00 tank 550.00 filter 150.00 plum it 1000.00 scavenge filters 40 each x? You put about 5000.00 into the economy and you can say you did your part in helping your country out of economic bad times.

fancy system but you don't see it in use very much. there's a ton of Hemi motor builders that pass on it.

I'm gonna use it for road racing
offer is going going...

not that it isn't a interesting or good system i can't say either way but one thing i don't see mentioned is how much these systems load the drive. i have to question the amount of load these big and bigger pumps put on the drive. in just a standard type configuration you're changing drive direction once at the cam to the drive with the missile you're changing it twice. again i'm not commenting on any of these systems as far a quality just drive loading. yes a dry sump is an improvement but how much and at what cost? for a road race application there's more of a need than for drag race. another thing to consider is just how much oil the engine really needs. if you're holding the relief valve open all the time you're just pumping oil in circles heating it up and wasting HP. as for the "smashing oil" theory i've worked around pumps for a long time and have a hard time buying that one. there are different types of pumping elements that do affect efficiency but any positive displacement pump is going to "smash" the oil that's how they work.

I am not saying that is how it exactly is this is what I was told by an aircraft engineer he said it is the only thing to use.As far as the load goes I don't know but I can tell you it put et on my car. Also I have been using it all year and my oil looks as new as the day I put it in,but I have used conventional systems for 20 years without failure, I just thought it was time to step up and go to something better. Who knows for sure

don't get me wrong it is one slick looking setup and i actually like the idea of driving it from the stock drive as it's one less thing taking up space on the front of the engine. i just wonder what kind of load it puts on the drive. i also like the idea that in some cases the dry sump setup may/will pull enough that a vacuum pump isn't necessary which with this setup would be even better yet. trying to get everything on the front of a dragster can be even worse than a door car. alternator, vacuum pump, belt drive distributor, crank trigger, dry sump, cooling system, belt drive fuel pump... it's a mess. if you could use this to do the oiling and vacuum it would certainly free up some precious space in front. that said then you need to find a place for the sump tank.

I have been told if it is set for a dry sump it can make pretty good vacuum mine does not make muck about 6 inches but they say installing your crank seals backwards makes a difference. My tank is on the cockpit explosion shield along with the air bottle, oil filter, two step and the kitchen sink.
