I have a 69 SuperBee with a 440 mildly built with a 727 trans. As soon as I put it into drive , 2nd or low it starts to slide the front tires. I cannot hold the rear tires to keep them from pushing. I have a CR21 stall converter and acording to Torqueflite Patty it should be a 2800 to 3000 stall. I am only at 750 to 800 idle speed and it is pushing. What could the problem be? It has been doing this ever since it was built. Could the Reverse / Low band be to tight? Thanks David

Stumpy: Yes the rear brakes are working Tested that also. Mopar:Yes I had to pull the converter up to the flex plate to get it bolted in. I also spun it around before bolting it up just to make sure there was nothing in a bind. Thanks David

Ordinarily I would say that the problem is in the converter, a failed stator clutch would result in reduced stall speed but this usually kills the motor as soon as it's put in gear.
Sounds like you have two problems, a faulty converter and faulty brakes.

John: That was happening at first and I just brushed it of as a new tight converter. I did loosen some up after a few days but not enough. David

hi cr21 = cast crank hi stall. low band not applied in drive , so it is not the band . best guess = bad convertor !

Well I was going to find the problem one way or the other so I droped it into low and hit it WOT. Heard something pop and then had no reverse. Pulled the trans which was a lot of fun with full length headers and opened it up to find a broken low reverse band. I had the converter tested and there was little to no clutch slipage at all. So now I get to rebuild the trans again and get a good converter with a 26-3000 stall. Any recomendations on the converter? Skunk
